Title: Betwixt and Between
Author: Firedust22 (Pirate Queen's Trusted Advisor)
Rating/Timeline/Spoilers/Category: PG, but only because of abnormally high levels of angst. This ficlet was written as a missing scene for the upcoming Season 4 Premeire, but contains absolutely no definate spoilers and can be read as having no timeline at all. Lots of vague... angst. Did I mention the angst?
Disclaimer: Not mine, no sue. I promise not to take over the Pegasus Galaxy and erradicate all hope for democracy while I'm there, too.

Betwixt and Beween
She could no longer bear sitting up.
She was not tired, nor was she injured. But she felt as though she belonged to lying down--or, at least, sitting up did not want her.
Her mind was moving in a thousand different directions at once. And all but two of those directions were erratic, changing, simultaneously focused and confused—the only constants were worry and wonder. Those were enough to pull her shoulders to the edge of her sterilized pillow and clamp on. The rest pressed inwards on her from every direction at once. She was aware, and painfully so, of the void of activity around and within her—and she did not really care.

He could no longer bear sitting still.
He was absolutely exhausted, and had sustained enough misery to qualify as injury. But he felt as though defeat would squeeze him too tightly, and only motion would keep him from crumbling.
His mind was too focused. He knew there were a thousand solutions that needed problems. And all but one of these seemed out of reach, ghostly, simultaneously tangible and undetectable—the one that remained concrete was the one that scared him. That was enough to push his gaze to the threshold and him after it. The rest wafted to the floor of the room behind him. He was unaware of the flurry of activity caused by his vacancy—and he most certainly did not care.
