Angel Food Cake

Castiel flew to Dean the minute he sensed her distress. She seemed to be in pain, but when he looked around to see what the cause of the pain was, he could not find it. She was curled up on a bed, alone in the room and her eyes tightly shut. The angel instantly put a hand on her forehead and Dean leaned into the touch.

"Cas, is that you?"

Long wisps of dark blonde hair covered her face. Castiel gently pushed some of them away to see the pain now clouding her vivid green eyes. The pain must cease.

"Yes Dean. What's wrong? Who is hurting you?"

"No one's hurting me. It's just my time of the month."

She bit back a whimper and focused completely on the angel, trying to keep her mind off the sharp stabbing pain in her belly. It worked too for she found it funny, like she always did, when he cocked his head to the side, wearing his typical cute confused look. If only she felt up to laughing right about now. Or even kissing.

"I do not understand, Dean."

"I have my period, Castiel. You know, with all the blood and everything?"

"Ah", Castiel nodded, now knowing exactly what she meant.

And unfortunately, there was nothing he could do. The pain would pass soon and Dean knew that. But just because he couldn't end her pain didn't mean he couldn't do something else. The angel would sit it out with her. She needed him right now and in a way he needed her. She was comfortable to be around.

"Do you like me, Cas?"

She was now sitting up.

"Of course I like you, Dean."

"No, I mean…"

Castiel looked at her intently.

"I mean love me?"

"Angels must love all humans."

She groaned this time, but it wasn't from the pain, which was nearly gone now.

"Fuck Cas. Never mind."

The angel looked away, suddenly even more embarrassed than Dean was. He had no idea she had felt this way about him. He sat down on the bed and put his hand on Dean's shoulder. She looked up at him, the color returning to her eyes now.

"I love you, Dean. More than any other human."

She grinned, "Really?"

"Yes."

She thought about that for a moment, "Then what does this mean?"

Cas smiled, "I think it means we should date."

Castiel held Dean's hand and looked out across the ocean. They were currently seated outside, at a waterfront restaurant in Atlantic City. The angel knew the human loved the city and thought it would be the perfect first date.

He smiled as he watched Dean apply cherry red lip-gloss and drink a wine glass filled to the brim with beer, leaving a red stain behind. He leaned forward and kissed her on those lips, so many flavors blossoming in his mouth at one time, leaving him ecstatic.

"What would you like to order?"

She grinned, "You. My angel food cake."
