"Don't Harry—just let it go, it'll be finished quicker this way."

Harry couldn't remember not having those words on his arm, written in beautiful cursive. The words of his soulmate, the last ones he would hear from them.

Hermione tried to catch him as he ran past, towards his boyfriend.

"Draco!" Harry shouted, as he tried to get past the two aurors. One of them, a man with greying hair and tanned skin covered in scars and deep wrinkles caught Harry, holding him around the shoulders as he tried to fight past.

"It's alright, ," he said, "we've got him under control. You don't need to worry."

"No," said Harry, struggling against the tight arms around him, "please — you don't understand-"

He could see Draco shaking, staring at him with wide eyes, seeming to be frozen. A bubbling urgency came through Harry's chest. He couldn't just tell Draco it would be alright, not knowing that he would be thrown into Azkaban with his demons as he waited endlessly for a trial; if he was lucky enough to receive that. The second auror, a tall burly man, was aiming his wand at Draco.

"No!" Again Harry shouted, this time wrenching free of the auror's grip. He raced forwards, tackling the second auror to the ground. But he was too slow. Red light emerged from the want, hitting his beloved boyfriend square in the chest. But not before Draco said something that made Harry's heart stop.

"Don't Harry—just let it go, it'll be finished quicker this way."

Harry watched, in slow motion as Draco crumpled to the ground, the aurors quickly on top of him to secure him with tight ropes. There was an odd buzzing in Harry's ear. No, no, no, no… This couldn't be the last time he would see Draco. Not so soon, after they had had so little real time together. He glanced down at his arm, just in time to see the last curving letter fade into his skin, absolute proof that those that been the words.

He felt his knees give way beneath him. He sunk down, frozen as he watched his boyfriend being carried away. It wasn't until minutes or perhaps hours later when Hermione tried to pull him inside that he began to cry.
