Now I don't own any of the people in this story, so I don't want to get sued. This is just what the summary says, a retelling of the night from DYRL that had Misa and Hikaru together in the tent. It's also from Misa's POV.

It was cold. Too Cold. For almost a month now I've been wandering the dead Earth, led by him. He flew the Valkyrie, he knew where to go, and now he's watching over me. "It's ready to eat, here, have some." I turned away from the fish, it didn't exactly look healthy. "Why bother? We're as good as dead. If the Macross even makes it back they won't be able to do anything!" He stabbed the fish on a stick into the dirt. "Dammit Misa! Why are you like this? I thought you would never give up!" I sighed, "So did I Hikaru, I always thought that I would always fight on, no matter the odds. Now look at me, sick, lost, and being taken care of by someone who hates me!"

The silence was like Stretch Armstrong's arms between two 5-year-old kids. Hikaru broke the silence hoarsely, "I don't hate you Misa." I turned to face him, "You're just saying that!" He shook his head. "No Misa, I mean it. I may not always think highly of you, and I doubt I'd ever ask you on a date, but you have my respect, putting up with everything you have to do, even being fair to me when I disobey orders. You're not so bad, you know?" I stared into his brown eyes, "You, really respect me?" He nodded. " I'm sorry Hikaru, I just, I just don't know, it's so hard sometimes!" I broke out into a fit of coughing, and he grasped my shoulder to keep me upright. When the fit ceased, he spoke, "You've got something you need to tell someone, then go ahead, I won't tell anyone." I grabbed his hand and started to sob between words. "I've just lost so much Hikaru, Karl, my father, my home, and I'm going to lose the Macross too! What am I supposed to do?" He sat behind me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, "Do what you need to, cry, curse, smack me, whatever. But just survive. I'll go insane without someone to talk to, even if it's you, you old sourpuss!' I couldn't help but smirk, "All right, I'll, I'll try, you just make sure to calm yourself down you wet-nosed hotshot!" He chuckled, "Is that an order Lieutenant?"
