"There's one outside..." Carl whispered to me.
"Damn..." I thought as I picked up my trusty axe.
I knew we wouldn't be safe in this rickety old barn forever. And once one of those things saw you, a whole lot more would come. I hate those things... Blood red eyes and as fast as a track runner. As soon as any fluids were exchanged between the Infected and a human, the human changed into one of them in twenty seconds. It's happened to some of my best friends... But I'm going to make sure that never happens again.
Suddenly, a loud banging occurred at the barn doors, accompanied by blood curdling shouts. Those damned things loved to shout.
"We've gotta get out of here." I said as I gestured to a ladder. It led up to a hatch that opened up to the roof of the barn. One by one we climbed up onto the roof until all four of us stood on top of it. We scanned the horizon vigorously, making sure there were no Infected on the way. The echoes of the bangs and shouts that filled the crisp, morning air sounded a lot louder outside than in.
"Look!" Karen shouted, pointing to a nearby hill.
A dozen silhouettes appeared over the hill, running straight towards the barn.
"What should we do?!" Asked Vincent frantically.
"I dunno... Let me think..." And trust me... I thought... But honestly, I didn't think we would get out of this one...
