You dropped to your knees, and the life left your hazel eyes.
As I cradled you in my arms, your last breath I heard, and my heart ceased to beat.
You never gave in. Never gave up. And now I am alone.
The light left your eyes, and now I am filled with darkness.
The wind ruffled your hair, and I wept.
Your spirit left me behind, but I could not bear to let you go.
You believed I could save you. Now I am begging you to save me. Begging you to breathe.
I can not let go. It is not fair of you to ask me to.
The light left you eyes, and now I am nothing.
This is not how it is supposed to end. I've given enough.
Fight the good fight. Win at all cost.
The cost is more than I can bear.
The light left your eyes, and I can not breathe.
To bury you, I find I cannot do.
Can not give you up to darkness.
Can not put you in the ground.
Tell me what am I supposed to do?
The light left you eyes, and I searched for miracles.
I inclined my head, searching the heavens, and prayed.
Angels would not heed my prayers.
Miracles could not be found.
The light left your eyes, and I dealt with demons.
I know you think a year is not long enough.
Know you think I was foolish to do so.
But, without you, I am already dead.
The light returned to your hazel eyes, and now I search for redemption within them.
