I'm working on the next chapter of Back Roads and this just… came to me. I own nothing. I'm sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes you're surely gonna find.

Enjoy…

"S'm, I d'n't f'el go'd…"

And then darkness carried him away into a world where sight, noise and touch don't exist.

When he opened his eyes for the first time, he saw – with bleary eyes and a sharp pain in his temples - Sam sitting at the table, shifting some papers around on the plastic tabletop. His back was twisted in a weird way, his legs were moving on the floor and the noise rocked Dean back into darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the second time, he heard Sam's fingers fly across the keys on his computer; the tapping noise so soft that it made him fall back into the darkness before he had a chance to blink for the first time.

When he opened his eyes for the third time, he felt something wet and cool on his forehead and Sam's face was only inches from his own. Sam blinked down at him… and some cold liquid ran from his forehead into his eyes and made him close them… and he drowned in the darkness again.

When he opened his eyes for the fourth time, he saw Sam pacing around the room, with his phone almost pushed into his ear. He couldn't hear what Sam was talking about, but he could see Sam flailing his arms one second and pushing them through his hair the next. And those smooth movements pushed Dean back into the darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the fifth time, he heard Sam walking around the room somewhere and then the noise of running water made him slide back into darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the sixth time, he felt a pressure on his neck and saw Sam's hand extended towards him and thought about Sam checking his pulse. A small caress on the side of his neck confirmed that and carried him back into darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the seventh time, he saw Sam sitting on his own bed, fighting with the remote control and losing. The blue light in the semi dark room made him close his eyes and go back to the darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the eight time, he heard Sam say: "Passing out, man? That's lame… go back to sleep."

The sound of that voice lulled him back to sleep.

When he opened his eyes for the ninth time, he heard himself slur out "Sh't 'p." Sam's soft laugh accompanied him back to darkness.

When he opened his eyes for the tenth time, he puked all over Sam's shoes.

"Aww man, gross."

"Sonofabitch."

And he slipped into the darkness for the eleventh time.
