(Y/n) blew on her hands, trying to restore warmth to them. Winter in Japan sure was cold. She was going to her friend's house. After all, it was almost New Year and she hadn't given him a Christmas present. This New Year will be my 3rd year with him. I sure look forward to it! she thought. She giggled at the happy memories they shared. Her friend was a soft, kind-hearted guy who was always 'embarrassed' at the littlest things. Not that she wasn't. The more she thought about it, the wilder her thoughts became. Deep down, she knew she liked him as more than just a friend. But she couldn't say that.
After all, that would be embarrassing.
Ah, she was now at the front door of her friend's house. Before she could even lift up a finger to press the doorbell, a tall, lanky guy swung the door open. "(Y/n)-chan! You're here!" Looking at his relieved eyes, she knew he had been worrying about her. She grinned. He was just so sweet. Then her cheeks fired up again. "S-Soraru... You don't have to worry about me. I'm not a kid!" she muttered to her scarf. The guy, Soraru, sheepishly said,"Don't embarrass me, (y/n)-chan."
They exchanged presents. Soraru gave (y/n) a nice mug for her favorite drink, and (y/n) gave Soraru a fluffy blue scarf that fitted him perfectly. (Y/n) admired her mug, turning it over and looking at it from every angle. And by doing so, he discovered a piece of paper in the mug.
She took it out and begin unfolding it. Soraru saw her unfolding it and his face turned fifty shades of red. "(Y/n)-chan! That note... You can read it here but... D-don't read it in front of me. It's embarrassing." He looked down, his bangs covering his face so she wouldn't see how red it was.
Unfortunately for him, his actions just made (y/n) want to tease him more. She opened up the note and read it.
(Y/n)-chan, we've been friends for a long time so I hope what I'm about to say won't hurt our friendship. I can't help but feel more embarrassed when around you. Or maybe it's something else? I don't know. Actually, I do know, but it's embarrassing. And I'm writing this note because it would be embarrassing to say it in real life.
(Y/n)-chan, I like you. A lot.
Upon reading the last sentence, (y/n)'s face flared up again. She looked up at Soraru and their eyes met. Soraru's blush would have looked absolutely adorable to (y/n) if she weren't blushing herself.
And of course, if the situation was less...embarrassing. (Y/n) swallowed. She should confess too, right? "Soraru... I, um, I mean, me too..." she mumbled. Soraru was slightly startled. Did he hear correctly what she had said? "Um..." (Y/n) shut her eyes. "Soraru, I like you too!" (Y/n) felt something warm. She opened her eyes and they widened when she saw that Sorarau was hugging her. "Th-this is embarrassing but... For once, I don't care. I'm actually really happy, (y/n)-chan." (Y/n) blushed. She whispered, so softly that Soraru could barely hear her, "Me too. But it's embarrassing."
