"Sakura-sensei!" A voice behind her called. She turned around to see one of her squad members running toward her.
"What is it Yumiko?" Yumiko huffed short, sharp breaths and managed to speak clearly.
"Sauke Uchiha has come back." Sakura's mouth fell open and she spoke slowly, carefully. Her body froze and she barely managed to make out a whisper.
"Yumiko. Are you sure of this?" Her heart stopped and she gasped for air.
"Yes. The hokage told me himself." She nodded her head to confirm her words and pointed toward Kohana Village's gates. "He should be arriving any minutenow."
Sakura's body unfroze and a smile stretched across her face. She ran toward the gates with energy she had never felt in ages. "Thank you Kumiko!" She yelled over her shoulder and found herself counting the seconds till he would be here. She would have to thank Naruto later.
She waited eagarly for his return. It had been eight years since he had left and she not think of anyone other than him still. He had finally decided to come back. The joy overwhelmed her and she wanted to jump up eith excitment. Her heart froze when she saw a shadow enetr her view.
There, stepping into the sunlight, was the guy she had fell in love with all those years ago. His spiked black hair and stern expresison remained intact.
Tears welled into her eyes and she lost control of her calm, outer shell. She ran toward him, the tears racing down her cheeks.
"sasuke-kun!" She yelled. Her arms wrapped around her neck and she hugged him tightly. "Sasuke-kun." Sakura whispered now, the tears making the words slur. His expression changed and he smiled softly. Sakura stepped back and hit him hardly on the face. His hand flew to his now red cheek and touched it lightly.
"You baka! How could you leave! I have been waiting for you all these years! Never regretting my decison! Do you know how much pain I felt! I-" She was cut short when his arms wrapped around her. His scent filled her lungs and she calmed down instantly. He buried his face in her hair and took in her scent as well. Sakura could hear him whisper in her ear softly. Heat was forming on his cheeks and she gasped with astonishment.
"I'm sorry. I never meant to put you in so much pain. I didn't want you to get harmed." Sakura blushed fiercly and a small smile lit her face. She looked up to see himm looking away, blushing a deep red.
Sakura got her toes and kissed Sauke gently on the lips. He returned it kindly, softly. "I love you Sasuke-kun." She whispered. "I love you Sakura-chan." He whispered back and smiled. They clasped hands to return to their new lives in Kohana. Together.
