Artie was having trouble coming up with an idea for a science project. He was laying on the sofa in his bedroom late one night after school.
'Maybe a volcano, a potato clock or maybe I could regenerate a dinosaur. Man I hate science.' More thoughts like this ran through his head as he drifted off to sleep. ' A rocket-ship, a talking animal.'
His last thought before he was unconscious was 'A door to a different dimension' . Instead of a door to dreamland, Artie dropped into that door that took him on a ride to a lucid dream where he woke up without a wheelchair by his side.
He looked around, everything was in black and white, he didn't panic just looked around. He stood as his mother called from downstairs.
"Honey, time for school!"
He ran down the stairs, and cried. "Mom, look I'm not in a wheelchair!" Just as he rounded the corner into the kitchen he saw his mother, who was in a wheelchair.
"Mom? Why are you in a wheelchair?" The woman looked up with a raised eyebrow.
"You know why Artie, what's this about? Nevermind here," She handed him some keys "Get in the car it's time for school, you'll be late. Your backpack and lunch is by the door. I washed your football uniform have fun at practice." She pulled him down by his shirt collar and kissed his cheek.
He walked in a daze to the door. By the door sat his belongings which he picked up in preparation for school. As he was about to walk out of his eyes caught his reflection in the mirror, he didn't have glasses. A mild transformation compared to his legs, but a transformation none the less.
With one last final glance at his feet and his face he was off to school.
