A/N: This is just a little one shot I thought of while I was at a lake. Kind of pointless, but lots of fluff.

Skipping Stones
If someone had told Percy Jackson 5 years ago that his father was Poseidon, god of the sea, he would've checked them into a mental facility. If some one had told Percy Jackson 5 years ago that he would save Olympus, he would've run away without a second thought. If someone had told Percy Jackson 5 years ago that he would be cuddling with his Athenian girlfriend on the beach, he would say: "No way in Hades, bro."
Yet here he was, his arm wrapped around Annabeth Chase's waist, sitting on the sandy beach of the Camp Half-Blood lake. There was a slight breeze and then sun wasn't beating down too harshly. To Percy, it was perfect.
Annabeth snuggled deeper into his chest and sighed contently. Right now, there was no war to worry about. There wasn't a quest to tackle. And for just a moment, they felt like normal teenagers. Being a demigod, the word "normal" was hardly ever used. So, whenever Percy and Annabeth felt even slightly normal, they definitely took advantage of it.
Percy picked up a little flat stone, flicked his wrist, and watched the little rock skip three times across the water. Annabeth put her head up.
"How did you do that?"
Percy smiled. "You don't know how to skip a stone?"
"Well it can't be that hard."
And so Annabeth picked up a similar stone as Percy's, mimicked his movements, and let go of the stone.
Splash! The stone plunked down into the water and sank to the bottom. Annabeth let out a frustrated groan. Percy was trying to hold back his laughter. Annabeth glared at him. "You're laughing at me?"
"Well you're forcing the stone. You have to be more gentle with it."
After shooting Percy another glare, Annabeth picked up another stone and threw it across the water.
Splash! The stone sunk, again. "You know what, this is stupid anyways." Annabeth told him.
"You're just jealous you can't do it."
"I am not! You're the son of Poseidon. You have an unfair advantage with this."
"Annabeth, you don't have to be a son of Poseidon to skip a stone."
Annabeth sighed. Then a little smirk played on her lips. Percy looked over at her. "Uh-oh." He said.
"What?" Annabeth asked.
"You have your game face on. You're not going to stop until you get a stupid stone to skip."
Annabeth's smug expression left her face. "No way. Like you said, it's just a stupid stone."
Percy rolled his eyes and grabbed her hand. "Come on then, let's go get some dinner."
a.a.a.
The next day, Percy couldn't find Annabeth anywhere. She didn't show up to breakfast. With any other girl, Percy would be really worried. But this was Annabeth. She was half god for Zeus's sake. Plus she was too smart to do anything dumb.
Percy checked the Athena cabin. One of Annabeth's siblings, Malcolm opened the door. "Have you seen Annabeth today?" Percy asked.
"Last I heard from her, she was going down to the lake." Malcolm replied.
Percy rushed out of the Athena cabin. Sure enough, he spotted Annabeth down at the lake chucking stones into the water.
"Just a stupid stone, huh?" Percy called.
Annabeth whipped around to face him. Percy chuckled at his overly competitive girl friend.
"Ugh! It's not working for me! I think something's wrong with the stones I'm using." Annabeth said.
Percy wrapped his arms around Annabeth's waist. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"I'm showing you how to do this."
Percy grabbed Annabeth's hands from behind her and positioned her correctly for the toss. He then motioned her wrist in a little flick. Sure enough, the stone glided out of her hands and skipped across the water three times.
"How did you do that?" Annabeth asked her mouth agape.
"Sometimes being the son of the sea god has its perks."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "It wasn't that great."
"Oh really? You don't think I'm extraordinarily great? The almighty savoir of Olympus?" Percy wiggled his eye brows. He pulled Annabeth down onto the sand with him and placed his lips on hers.
Annabeth melted into the kiss. It was simple and sweet. Percy was wrong before. He had originally wanted to stay snuggled with Annabeth for a long time. But he decided that this was slightly better.
As they pulled away, Annabeth looked into his green eyes. "Ok, fine. You are pretty great."
Percy smiled. "So are you, babe. Even if you can't skip a stone."
