So I had something in mind, just a little one-shot that I just couldn't get out of my head :)
I hope you'll all enjoy and didn't die like me after watching the episode 'And The Point Of Salvation'
sorry for any mistakes! I just wrote this real quick.
Comments/Reviews are always welcome!
love you all!
They have been stuck for more then 9 hours now, it's dark and cold, Cassandra is huddled up against Jake, almost falling asleep, her head shooting up everytime there's a noise on the other side of the walls.
They can't get out, because they had plans, but not for that thing, that thing outside that's waiting for them to give up.
Ezekiel knows that they're slowly getting closer to doing just that, but he's not going to let that happen. They're all hungry, the only sound in the dark room that proves he isn't completely alone is Jake's breathing and the occasional sound of the growling of someone's stumach. They need to get out of here, or it'll only get worse, it'll get worse until... He shouldn't think about that, not now, not when he's the ony one that can get them out.
Eve, Jake and Cassandra, they're all sitting on the ground, they look like they haven't slept in days, and Ezekiel knows he has to get them out of here or they are going to give up, and he can't let that happen.
"We can't sit around any longer." He says, and he stands up.
They all look at him like he's crazy, like they're ready to just sit there for the rest of their lives, but they still have a chance, Ezekiel knows it, even if it's one in a million. he's going to take it, and he's going to drag them with him.
"Ezekiel, we can't do anything, we can't go out, we'll be dead in a matter of seconds, you saw what it did to the guard." Baird said, she sounded like she lost hope, she never lost hope.
She was always the one that convinced them to go on, to do what they do best and not let other people or new things stop you, she couldn't give up hope now, and Ezekiel will make damn sure she won't, that they all won't.
He sits back down, rubs his hands together and he says:
"Someone once told me a story, a story that soldiers tell,"
They look at him expectantly, and he can't let them down, so he tells the only story that ever really sticked with him, that he was told time, after time, after time, again.
"It's WWII, Market Garden, allied assault, behind enemy lines."
"These allie troups have to cross a big river. First wave of soldiers get in their small boats, get halfway across the river, Germans open fire, just cut them all down, none of them make it."
Baird looks at him, a look of confusion and recognition.
"These two colonals, they're watching the bodies floating on the river and one of them says: "Those were the bravest men I have ever seen."
Baird's look changes, she smiles faintly.
"The second colonal points at the second wave of soldiers, getting in their small boats, getting ready to cross the same river, only they saw what happened to the first guys, they know what's coming. And that colonal says: "No, those are the bravest men I have ever seen.""
"Ezekiel..." Baird starts to say but Ezekiel cuts her off.
"We shouldn't give up, even if we know what could happen. Because if we don't get out now, we'll never do. And this isn't about being brave or getting prased for risking your life, our lives."
"This is about taking a chance, even if it's a small one, even if it's so small you're scared of taking it because you know what can happen. But you need to take that risk, because if you don't, you... we, won't ever cross the river."
He stood up, Baird going with him.
Jake helped Cassandra up and they devided the few weapons they had.
Eve turned to Ezekiel,
"Okay soldier,"
"let's do this."
Thanks for reading!
