'Donnie yawned and rubbed at his eyes. With the Kraang invasion approaching at any given time, he had been pulling more and more all-nighters in order to get the Turtle Mech up and operational. That power crystal that Mikey brought back with him from Dimension X had helped greatly, because it gave him a power source that was strong enough for the Turtle Mech to handle. An act Donnie greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the all-night work sessions had been taking their toll on him, dark rings had formed under his eyes and he would zone out at times or become irritated by the slightest loud noise. If it wasn't for his brothers bringing him meals just to be sure he ate at least he guessed that he would have forsaken eating all together. There was a loud squeal as the door to the lab was opened and Leonardo walked in.

"Okay Donnie," The leader in blue sighed. "It's late…time to give it a rest."

"I can't…" Donnie said. "The invasion could be coming any day now, any moment I lag on this task gives the Kraang more of an opportunity to return from that set back we gave them a week ago."

"I understand the urgency." Leo said. "But if you exhaust yourself, your efforts would be in vain. Just try and get some rest okay."

"All right..." Donnie sighed as he shut off his welding torch and put it down. "I guess I can take a break for a few hours." Leo smiled and put a hand on Donnie's shoulder in appreciation before returning to his room. Donnie obediently put away his tools and looked up at the huge mechanized weapon he was creating and sighed. He still had a long way to go until it was complete, but for the sake of his brothers he could at least take a break for an hour at least.

Shutting off the light and closing the lab door he made his way to the dormitory. Reaching his room he found his bed was already occupied. Mikey lay curled in a ball fast asleep on top of Donnie's covers, a habit that the orange masked Turtle did when he was distressed. If it had been any other time, Donnie would have been annoyed by this and would have dragged Mikey back to his own room. But this time the sight just filled Donnie with sadness as he sat on the bed and gently placed a hand on Mikey's shoulder.

Fifteen seconds, that was how long it had taken Leo, Raph, and himself to go after Mikey once he had jumped in that portal. Just fifteen seconds, but for Mikey it had been months. How many times had Mikey cried in his sleep begging them to come for him? How many times had Mikey prayed he would leave that hellish world and return to the world where his family resided? How often did he worry that he would never know the taste of pizza, or Murakami's pizza Gyoza? None of them would have blamed him for doing this.

Donnie didn't know if he himself would have survived such a time, and didn't want to find out if it was possible. He couldn't bear the thought of being separated from his brothers and father for any reason. And he didn't want to think about how sad and scared Mikey had been while on his own. Curling down beside his brother he draped the blanket over the two of them. As though sensing his brother's presence, Mikey reached out and pulled Donnie closer to him. Donnie smiled sadly and returned the hug as he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Silently vowing that he would do everything with in his power to make sure that none of them have anything to do with Dimention X and the Kraang ever again.
