I got woke up last night and had this idea and couldn't resist putting it up since I have like five hours of nothing to do.
I don't own Ouran HSHC!
Tamaki's day was going perfect. No school, although it made him sad in when everyone in the host club was busy. Of course though the day was dull but he made the best of it. But all of that ended, with a phone call that interrupted his piano practice. Not that he needed it, but he still enjoyed playing it just for fun.
His cell vibrated furiously on the bench receiving his attention to pause from playing. Picking it up, the caller idea was of Kaoru.
"Kaoru? I thought you had to go to one of your mother's photo shoots?" Tamaki asked.
"Yeah, well there was a change of plans-" Kaoru said softly as if upset.
"Really? Then let's go see Haruhi!" Tamaki jumped up in excitement.
"No, Tamaki I'm calling about that-"
"WHAT! ARE YOU TWO DOOPLEGANGERS ALREADY THERE HARRASSING MY POOR HARUHI!" Tamaki shouted getting his shoe on. "Haruhi shouldn't be hanging around with you two shady twin-"
"Boss will you shut up and listen!" Hikaru's voice shouted into the receiver. "Haruhi's been in a car accident!"
Everything froze. Tamaki was forgetting how to breathe, with the thought running through his head multiple times. Haruhi in danger. Haruhi in trouble. And Haruhi hurt.
"Where is she?" Tamaki asked grabbing his jacket as the limo driver rushed in front of him to bring the car around.
"The Mitsu hospital, it's one that Kyoya's family owns." Kaoru's voice said. Tamaki closed his phone and swung open the door to outside and slid in the limo.
"Mitsu hospital, and step on it please."
Tamaki didn't waste time waiting for an elevator, he instead took the stairs running flight after flight to the floor Kaoru texted him they were on once he arrived.
Pushing open the door hardly he ran into the waiting room to see the entire Host Club sitting or standing in the waiting room all alone. Upon hearing Tamaki's loud entrance, they all turned to face him with their grave faces. That reassured him that this was real and not just a joke that the two twins decided to pull.
"Where?" Tamaki panted walking over to them.
"Ranka's seeing her, so we decided to give him some time alone." Kyoya said pushing his glasses up. Even though he hardly seemed that effected over this, he still kept a respected tone to not be cheerful and show some remorse for this happening.
"What exactly happened? Didn't you all have plans?"Tamaki asked frantically looking at them all. Hikaru and Kaoru directed their gazes to their feet not wanting to meet his gaze.
"We were going to give you a surprise visit with Haruhi, but she said she needed to at least first go to the super market." Kaoru said.
"She said she'd be able to get back faster if she went by herself if we stayed and so we did." Hikaru swallowed. "It was only hardly a little over half an hour later until some stranger came banging on the door, she knew Haruhi and knew where she lived and came to get help because she was hit by a car."
"We called the hospital and her father while we ran to help, but by the time we got there she seemed to have lost so much blood she was unconscious." Honey said being the rare occasion he didn't act like a little kid.
The door behind the front desk opened, and Ranka walked out slowly. His facial expression was one crushed and completely depressed. He walked over to the group and managed a small smile but didn't look at any of them directly.
"The doctor says she'll be fine, she's just in a coma." He swallowed and covered his mouth as he walked over to the windows. His shoulders shaking from what Tamaki assumed he was crying. "You guys can go see her."
The Host Club all exchanged glances and then in a slow order they went back to the patient rooms. Of course Haruhi's family wouldn't have been able to have afforded her own room, but Kyoya was able to pull a few strings to get her one.
Arriving at A13, the club waited for their president to be the one to open the door. Tamaki's hands shook over the handle, with tears threatening to come out to. In fact a few were already falling down his cheek. He never had cried this seriously in front of the club members.
But the club is family. He reminded himself as he turned it and pushed it open to a regular sized room. Walking in the door way his breath hitched, with the pale form of Haruhi on the bed. Bandages were wrapped around her forearm and some placed at her head. Receiving a light shove from Hikaru, he made way so the other Host Club members could walk in. All six boys stood in the back, just looking at Haruhi. It was Hikaru who just turned away to the nearby window and pounded his fist hardly against the wall.
"Damn it! Why did this happen? To her of all people!"
"Stuff like this happens Hikaru," Kaoru said in attempt to be comforting as he moved to place a hand on his twin's shoulder, which Hikaru moved away from.
"Not to her! She's sensible, she knew to wait for the light and some crazy person decided he could make it in time and not hit her! But he did!" Hikaru's fist clenched and through the reflection of the glass, everyone could see tears coming from his eyes that he was trying to hide. "One of us should have insisted on going with her, one of us could have made the excuse to help her carry her bags or something, that's what a gentleman is! It's not just about being a good host!"
"You don't need to take it out on the club Hikaru." Kyoya said pushing his glasses up. Hikaru spun around towards him with an angry expression.
"I'm not taking it out! I'm saying it's our fault she's in this state!"
"Hikaru! Don't say that!" Kaoru argued with his twin.
"You know its true Kaoru," Hikaru yelled but went silent a moment before sighing. "And now it's on us if that she's in a coma, not knowing when she'll wake up."
"Hikaru," Tamaki said softly. Hikaru gritted his teeth ran out from the room.
"Hikaru!" Kaoru called rushing after him. Honey's lip began to quiver as he thought about what Hikaru said and he threw himself beside Haruhi's bed.
"Oh Haru-chan! Please forgive us! You need to wake up!" He sobbed.
"Mitskuni," Mori said with his cool voice as he only needed to take two steps over to be right behind Honey, and he bent down placing a hand on his shoulder. "You're only pushing the needle deeper into her hand."
"Huh?" Honey said in alarm not noticing the I.V she was hooked up to. "Oh Haruhi forgive me! I shouldn't be in here if I'm going to because you trouble even when you're asleep!" Honey sobbed running out of the room with Mori following.
"If that's the case then I should find a doctor to make sure Honey didn't push that needle in too deep." Kyoya excused leaving the room to only Tamaki, who for the first time couldn't say anything. He still was in a type of shock from seeing Haruhi, and was still thinking over everyone's reactions. Kyoya of course looked like he didn't care, but everyone knew that deep down he at least had some concern. Mori of course had emotion, but just didn't show it. Honey was crying the whole time since he was like a child.
Tamaki swallowed the lump in his throat as he took the seat on the left side of the bed. Kaoru was upset but had faith things would turn out all right. Hikaru felt guilty, and was angry with himself and the others. But what was he?
Tamaki looked upon Haruhi's face that seemed nearly dead other than her soft breathing, and Tamaki couldn't help but feel all of those strong emotions. He assumed he felt similar to Ranka being her 'father', but there was more. Father's didn't have this feeling to be thanking God their daughter was alive, knowing they couldn't live without them. A love for a daughter never went that deep. Did it?
What is this feeling? Tamaki thought. I don't think I feel like Ranka, I'm not just glad she's alive or upset that she's hurt…I'm not good friends who are speechless…I'm not a close friend who cries or just hopes she'll be alright. I'm not even guilty. But if I'm neither friend nor father…what am I? What do I feel towards Haruhi?
He wasn't just glad she wasn't dead; he was overly relieved and felt like hugging her to death with joy if she wasn't in a coma. He wasn't just upset she was hurt; it felt like he was also in his own coma state. He wasn't wanting to act like he didn't care, because the truth was he did, and that wasn't that much of a difference to his friendly personality. If any of his friends had the same thing happen to them he would be the same way, just not as serious.
He just didn't want to cry he wanted to hold her and sob until his tears would wake her up. He wasn't just hopeful that she would be alright, he was positive she would be. But he did feel guilty. He knew he couldn't help it, if he was with the others, he would insist on going with her and protecting her. It wasn't guilt, it was the promise that he would be there, and he would be there from now on to make sure this never happened again. He felt protective.
He couldn't describe the feeling in his heart. This was definitely not the feeling a father would feel towards his daughter. This was like the way you felt towards…
Tamaki's eyes snapped wider. Love. There was nothing else, it only made sense of why once she woke up he wanted to shower her in hugs and kisses. At least he solved the debate he was having since he walked in this room if that was wrong or not. He loved her.
Slowly he moved his hand across the bed to her hand, taking it in his.
"Everyone's waiting Haruhi," He smiled. "We're ready for you to go on and wake up. We need you to wake up." He pulled their intertwined hands closer to rest against his forehead when he looked down to the sheets. "I need you. I want to see you ok. I want to hear you call me senpai…well maybe not senpai; I want you to know my feelings now that I figured them out myself. The moment you wake up I want to tell you, because this is what made me realize them. You getting hit by that car can be both the greatest and worst thing that's happened to me. Because it made me realize…I love you."
He couldn't believe he actually said it, his first time saying it, and it felt like the best thing in the world. "I love you, Haruhi. It's a little weird saying that since I've always called you my daughter, but I guess it's just gonna take me a while. I'm just glad I could practice saying it to you while you're in a coma, I'm sure it'll be harder when I tell you the first time and you're actually conscious." He chuckled kissing her knuckles.
"It won't be." A gentle voice said reassuringly. Tamaki's head shot up to look at Haruhi, who was awake and looking at him with her cute smile. "Because it's always easier when you hear it from someone else first."
"Haruhi… KYOYA! EVERYONE!-"
"Tamaki-senpai,"
"RANKA! DOCTOR! SHE'S AWAKE! SHE'S AWA-"
"We know boss." Hikaru's voice sighed from the doorway. Everyone was standing in the doorway with a triumphant smirk, except for Ranka who was trying to push past Mori to get in the room, not happy that Tamaki was holding his daughter's hand.
"What do you mean 'you know'? She just woke up! We have to get the doctor! He has to check you Haruhi to make sure you don't have any mental damages!" Tamaki said pushing himself up.
"I'm not sure that I'm the one with mental damages." Haruhi muttered sarcastically.
"Haruhi, there's no time to play around!" Tamaki scolded. "You were in a very serious accident and lucky that your coma didn't last so long."
"Yeah about that Tama-chan," Honey laughed awkwardly.
"Haruhi wasn't really in a coma," Hikaru grumbled crossing his arms.
"We just acted like she was to get you to confess." Kaoru finished with a grin. There was a silence in the room of Tamaki thinking, until he finally realized what they meant and was scratching his head furiously from confusion.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WAS ALL AN ACT?"
"Well, we all thought you needed to move past the fact that the club isn't family." Kaoru shrugged placing his hands behind his head.
"We're close friends Tama-chan but we thought you needed help realizing Haru-chan isn't your daughter." Honey smiled.
"So we came up with this plan." Mori added.
"Since this hospital isn't open yet, I was able to get us to use this room and had a few of the staff just walk around." Kyoya smirked coldly scribbling in his notebook.
"And everyone acted like Haruhi really was in an accident." Hikaru finished. Tamaki was frozen in shock.
"What about the tears you and Honey-sempai had?"
Hikaru and Honey held up a small bottle that helped them produce tears in the Host Club.
"We learned from the best." The two said in unison.
"But of course my act was real." Ranka said with pride. "I played my part perfectly, right Kyoya?"
"We couldn't have gotten anyone better." Kyoya said politely.
"You guys did all this…just to get him to say that?" Haruhi asked slowly.
"That would be correct." Kyoya smiled. Tamaki's gaze changed over to Haruhi.
"And were you apart of this joke?" He asked softly.
"Well, yes, but I didn't know it was exactly to get you like this. Kyoya said he would remove half of my debt, if I just came in here, wore some bandages and acted asleep and just listened. And so I did."
"So…you did hear?" Tamaki gulped, when Haruhi nodded his hand placed over his mouth, and he blushed, the red turning darker and darker.
"But Tamaki -senpai…I want you to know…" Haruhi began causing Tamaki to perk up. "I'm not gonna stop calling you Senpai." Tamaki crashed his head against the side of the bed yet somehow slipped and ended up banging it on the floor.
"So can I go on and change back in my regular clothes?" Haruhi asked the others.
"Yes, I believe all of us are done here." Kyoya sighed leaving while being followed by Honey, with Mori pushing the two twins away. Haruhi slipped out of bed, holding the back of the hospital shirt closed while she knelt to see if Tamaki was alright and made him leave. But while he was walked to the door by her right before she closed it, he could hear her breathe on his neck.
"I love you to Senpai." Before she closed the door. Tamaki's insides felt like melting. Confessing his love wasn't the greatest feeling in the world anymore, now it was hearing it from Haruhi.
"How dare you hold my daughter's hand without my permission!" Ranka shouted punching Tamaki up in the air. "Ah ha ha ha!"
But no matter what punches and kicks he felt from Ranka, nothing could top his feeling from figuring out his love for Haruhi.
