There was no warning. He stole my heart and there was nothing I could do about it. His bravery and courage, not to mention his smarts and his sense of humor. He's absolutely perfect to me, but I don't think he feels the same way.
I was sitting looking up at the stars, unable to sleep. I noted some of the constellations that Sokka had shown me. I blushed at the thought of him. "Hey Toph, what's up? Why aren't you sleeping?" My heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. "Is that really any of your business?" The truth was that I was up thinking of him. "What are you doing up anyways?" I asked doing my best to hide my true emotions. I wasn't really any good at showing emotions, and I was of afraid of what Sokka's reaction would be to my feelings for him. "Well um, I had a lot a things on my mind..." "Why kind of thngs?" I asked curiously. "Well, specifically a person. She's just so tough, smart, funny, and...pretty. I haven't known her for long, but she's a great person." He couldn't possibly mean?..."She's an earthbender and she gave up a life of luxury to help the avatar." That could only mean..."That girl is you toph." I felt my face instantly turn crimson red. "Sokka, I didn't know you felt that way" I said quietly, not being able to hold back an ear-to-ear smile. "Toph, I love you." At that moment, I was happier than I'd ever been before. No mixture of good things combined could compare to the incredible feeling that I had. It was undeniably love. "I-I love you too, Sokka" I never expected it but I suddenly felt a pair of lips pressing against mine. I'd never kissed anyone before that, so it was a bit shocking. My eyes fluttered to a close as my body felt waitless, and for a moment, everything was perfect. I'd completely forgotten about every problem and conflict that I was facing. I was in love, and I was loving it.
"Toph, you know you are really pretty." Sokka said with a smile. "I don't really think so..." I said blushing, I obviously didn't have a true verdict, but I assumed otherwise. "Don't deny it, you're beautiful and when we get older, I'll be proud to have the most gorgeous girl to ever live." I scooted in closer to Sokka on the bench that I had made out of earth. Katara and Aang had gone into town to get supplies, while we stayed behind at camp. "You're sweet Sokka" I looked up and smiled at him. "Not as sweet as you" He said giving me a quick kiss. "I love you Sokka." I said hugging him. "I love you too, Toph." Hugging me tighter.
