Raoul rolled over in his bed back the estate and groaned when he saw the clock.

3:25 Am. He thought inwardly and rolled back into his previous position. Ever since the engagement with Christine had been mutually broken off, his life seemed to be even more lackluster than before.

There's no excitement in anything I do anymore. Then again, I didn't have much excitement to begin with. His mind reminded him. He then remembered everything that happened when the engagement was broken off.

~Flashback Time!~
"I just know you don't love me! I won't marry someone like this." Christine said calmly, calmer than Raoul thought possible.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Christine! I thought I did, but I don't. I love you as sister, but nothing more. But believe me, when I proposed, I truly believed I did. I—"
"No you didn't. Don't lie to me. I know the real reasons of this." The raven-haired woman smirked.
"You can't possibly mean…" Raoul's vivid blue eyes widened.
"You bet! You don't like me because you can't. You don't like women, you prefer a man's company." She said, knowingly. "You only began this relationship and proposed so you could keep Phillipe in the dark and he'd finally get off your case, right?" She questioned.
"Ahhh…" Raoul scratched his head awkwardly, face flushed to a bright red. "You got it right. And I'm sorry, but you're the only woman I could really stand to be with under the conditions."
"It's ok, it was flattering but I contemplated it and decided I would be better off truly with a man who truly would be with me." She smiled. "And I'll help you with Phillipe if you need!"
Raoul groaned, thinking of how badly this would go. "I don't know if I could tell him that. I look up to him so much…and to know I let him down would… I don't even know." He rambled, leaning against the outside of the opera house. He groaned again and put his face into his hand. "This is something I will have to handle later, maybe when I actually have someone to bring home." He said into his hand, "but for now, let's go back inside." He gripped her hand and walked back into the building.

End of Flashback.

Raoul smiled lightly to himself. My strong little Lotte. He thought. But what she doesn't know, is who I have eyes for.
Raoul De Chagny was slowly becoming interested in the phantom of the opera house. He realized it when he was being dragged over to the punjab lasso by the phantom himself. It was so rough and dangerous that it sparked his adrenaline and he felt warmth pool into his stomach as his life was put on the line by the man who was so dangerous and unpredictable. The man who could compose beautiful pieces of music as easily as he could terrify the whole opera house.
It was true: Raoul was a closet masochist. It's the excitement that I desire. That feeling of just not knowing is truly only there with the Phantom. Raoul also knew of the other sides of the opera ghost from Christine. He knew that he could be as sweet and romantic as a Parisian ought to be but being as harsh and cruel as a circus trainer in the next moment. Raoul wanted a sane romance though. He just felt that danger go straight to his groin. In reality he wasn't looking to lose his life but to help the phantom. I want that insanity to reveal his true character.
