Disclaimer: I do not own, nor do I profit from Skip Beat! However, I did write this little drabble, such as it is.

Possession

Cain Heel did not like to share. It was as simple as that, really. Sure, sometimes his alter ego was forced to act nice, play the part of the gentleman, but it was simply that: an act, a ruse to hide his true nature and blend into the society. It was a necessary camouflage for Ren Tsuruga. Cain, however, was bound by no such restrictions. He was an object of fear, and rightly so. He was dangerous.

So, perhaps he understood why Ren acted as he did; why he did not keep as tight a hold on what was his as he should; why he made threats, but never resorted to physical acts. Yes, perhaps he could understand it, but he did not agree with it, nor did he have to abide by such rules. So when he heard the phone ring in such a way that made it clear it belonged to the other woman rather than his little sister, he generously allowed her a moment to silence the sound. When he saw how flustered she was growing, he became suspicious and decided to investigate. So, he snatched the offending device from her fingers and did just that. When he saw the blocked number and remembered Ren's most recent conversation with a certain punk singer…well. He could hardly be held accountable.

Much to Setsu's shocked dismay, he shut the phone off for her before flinging it behind him where it probably broke against the wall. Not that he bothered to look. He was too busy glaring at Setsu for even considering answering the phone; or perhaps the other woman for leaving it on and being so easily manipulated by another; or perhaps he was directing his ire at his alter ego for allowing such a situation to arise in the first place. If Ren had dealt with the punk properly, Cain would be continuing a very interesting conversation with his little sister right now. He did not appreciate the interruption.

"Maybe I should buy a lock today," he said, resuming the aforementioned conversation as though there had been no interruption at all. "So I won't have to bother with anything else like that."

He advanced step by deliberate step, and Setsu retreated just as slowly until her back hit the door and there was nowhere left to go. Cain rested his forearm on the door above her head and leaned down so his face was a scant few inches from hers.

"What do you think, Set-su?"

Author's note: Please forgive the complete lack of closure. This was something that possessed me as soon as I read chapter 193 and simply demanded to be written. Given how awesome the last page was, I thought I ought to give it this little tribute and share it with y'all. It's a drabble, plain and simple. I might go back and pretty it up later if so inspired, but I make no promises. Hope you enjoyed it at least a little. Please let me know what you thought.
