Rating: PG-13

The problem is something went screwy when the curse hit Prince Charming, dying in his pool of blood. Maybe he was already dead and the curse couldn't tell. Maybe he was alive and on his way to a different kind of happily every after. Either way. It went screwy. Screwy in a good way, maybe. Sort of.

He sees the ring flashing on Snow's (and what did she DO to her hair?) hand as she stands outside a hospital room with a boy and blonde stranger. At the twist and sparkle all he can remember is her grinning face as she tried it on that first time in the woods. He sees her ringed hand resting on a pregnant belly in his mind's eye. His heart skips a beat. His baby girl.

Hiswife.

These are people he knows he loves. So why is he being told that this woman in front of him is married to him? Didn't he break off that engagement in another realm?

And why is the Queen able to fool Snow so easily? He sees the evil one spinning lies around his wife, his one true love dammit and why isn't she in his arms and he can't do anything to fix this and dammit. The curse, it mustbe the curse. She doesn't know him because of the curse. Right? RIGHT?

The problem is he remembers two lives. He has a vague, foggy recollection of two realities. He knows this weepy, blonde woman (her acting sentimental has not improved in the switchover with the curse) from the life before, but he cannot remember her in his life here.

He knows Snow, but this woman wearing the ring with the cute short hair (it's growing on him, she looks fantastic), doesn't picture in his memories of this town.

The memories of the two aren't real anyways. He knows that. He thinks? He hopes. He can't parse the information in his head properly and it's giving him a head-ache.

But it's hard to argue with a bed and a hospital and reality. Especially with the Queen right there, spinning her lies and tricks. He'll play along for now and suss out this game of hers. And he has a baby girl to find too, doesn't he? Right?

He's tired though. James gets the feeling that he shouldn't be remembering the life before. He shouldn't be remembering the beginnings of their happily ever after. He knows that he can't let the queen know that he knows.

And thatkid is staring at him with creepy eyes. And it's kinda weird, because he looks a little like he did as a boy. Did James look that earnest? Did he himself have that desperate glint in his eye?

James continues to be vague and sleepy and confused looking as the blonde fiance/wife/whothehellcares flutters around him and pretends to be thrilled he's awake.

He is a Prince of the realm, a hero, and he's found True Love once before. So he's got a few weird memories to sort out, and it looks like Snow and he aren't together in this curse afflicted reality. But he will do it. He'll win. He'll do whatever it takes for that Happily Ever After. Whatever. It. Takes.

A/N: Nothing for a while and then out of the blue this pops up. Feel free to review!
