Disclaimer: I don't own Smallville.

Maybe, she had misread him. She had felt foolish as soon as the words had escaped her lips. Lowering her gaze, she tried to reconsider all the little bits of information she had gathered over the past few months.

"Was I really that obvious?"

His sudden words brought her out of her thoughts.

"Huh?" she could only say as she looked up at him.

He gave her a small smile as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Was he nervous? And more importantly, had he really said what she'd thought she had heard him say?

She stared at him, not really knowing how to react, causing his smile to turn into a frown.

"Chloe, I –" he started, but stopped and then sighed. "I should probably go," he finally continued, getting up from her couch and placing his takeout box on her coffee table.

Was he leaving? She didn't want him to leave.

"Ollie, wait," she paused when he turned around, eyes full of hope. "Why me? I- I'm not your type."

She had wanted to tell him that she liked him too, but her insecurities had gotten the best of her.

"I don't know," he said truthfully. "I guess you're the type of woman men can't help but just..." He paused for a while, as if reviewing his words, "grow into."

She bit her lower lip at his words, eyes welling up a little as she remembered a letter she had written to her once best friend.

How ironic.

To think that all this time, she hadn't realized that the man of her dreams had actually been masquerading as her best friend.

"Chloe, I really value our friendship and this doesn't have to change anything between us…"

She took a few small steps towards him, and took his hands in hers.

"Doesn't it?" she said, looking up at him, hoping he'd take the hint.

"Unless… you want to?"

She smiled.

"I do."
