Disclaimer: I'M BATMAN. (No actually that's Michael Keaton) DAMNIT. Batman belongs to DC.

Summary: Gotham doesn't need a hero. What it needs is a little anarchy. The Joker in three quotes.

You wanna know how I got these scars?

He has told the stories so many times that he has quite forgotten what the original tale was. He doesn't mind, not terribly, because it's a fleeting thing, one in a long procession of faces and names and memories he has forgotten. He does, however, remember that, as a schoolboy, he had enjoyed multiple-choice tests more than essays or projects. Now he is older, wiser, and yes, stranger, and he has discovered that "multiple-choice" is a concept that ought to be applied to more than just tests.

I know why you're afraid to go out at night.

At first he isn't sure what to think of the Batman. He comes to Gotham with high expectations and is not disappointed. Presented with a melting pot of greed and blood and kerosene, and he figures that his time has finally come, he is (at last) being given a chance to do what he is meant to do: make some havoc.

And then Batman swoops in with his black suit and his fancy gadgets, Kevlar, broad shoulders and rubber and beneath it all a stink that he is familiar with: desperation. And suddenly it seems as if it is not his time at all.

But that smell! How miserable is this guy that he reeks of it even under forty-plus pounds of black rubber? It's strong enough that he wants it, to roll in it like a dog in garbage, to take it and keep it, it and the width of those broad shoulders, forever. And he's always been attracted to despair; it's such a lovely motivator, a surefire way to introduce a little excitement into people's lives.

So he changes his goals. Not hard to do, considering how intrinsically changing he himself is, and this time he leaves room to have a little fun.

For a while I thought you were Dent, the way you threw yourself at her.

He will be the first to admit that he is a possessive creature. It's simply what he is, and he's never tried to ignore or deny it. So he notices when Batman shows more interest in pursuing Dent's little piece of fluff than in continuing their game. It raises his hackles far more than is safe, but he's also the type of creature to leap before he looks. And he doesn't like it that Batman's attention has shifted from him to…well, anywhere else, really.

Obviously there is still room in this equation for improvement. Possessive he might be, and maybe even a little mad, but no one will ever be able to accuse him of being predictable.

He will have Batman's full and undivided attention, and by the end of their game he will have the Batman as well.

Because it's not over yet, not by a long shot.

He thinks they are destined to dance like this forever.

A/N: Just a little background info, the tango milonguero is a style of tango that has the dancers very very close together, as opposed to ballroom style tango, which keeps the bodies apart to allow for more elegant, sweeping movements.
