The glass door opened, and a melodic chime rang through the store as two men stepped onto the rugged black mat covering the white tiled floor in front of the door. A girl looked up behind a desk, which was situated to the left of the door. Her amber eyes squinted at the two strangers, and she smiled hesitantly. "Hello, welcome to The Book Nook. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Actually," the smaller of the two males stepped forward, his lips stretched into an easy smile, "I was wondering if Gina Wilson was around?"
The girl stared at him for a few seconds, "You're Dick?"
He nodded. Dick lifted a hand and ran his fingers through the messy black hair atop his head. It was a little shaggy, a few strands darting across his face and into his crystalline colored eyes. But his hair was the only thing remotely messy about him; he wore a crisp deep blue button down, tucked into ironed black slacks.
"I'm Ashley," the girl smiled at him, and then at his companion who hovered behind him. "Gina's older sister. Let me get her for you."
She pressed a small button on the underside of the desk, and leaned closer to a small silver microphone. A speaker above their heads crackled. Another girl poked her head around a worn, wooden shelf several feet away, her eyebrows crinkled. Ashley met her eyes and smiled slightly.
"Yo, Watermelon-Butt," Ashley droned into the mike, "Your boy-toy is here."
