Hello! I was so depressed today, and I don't know why. I was inspired to write this story while listening to All You Wanted by Michelle Branch and Afterglow by Vanessa Carlton.
Disclaimer: No.
Unbreakable
It was just as if the world had passed without her; as if she was stuck in one moving fragment of living time, the same thing replaying in her head over and over. It seemed as though she would not continue living; she just existed, empty as the soul of the world in which she dwelt; alive, yet so deceivingly dead. It was the brutal discomfort and danger of being his friend; that one day, as soon as you breathed, filling your lungs with the oxygen they longed for; he could disappear. Just like that. He would be with you for one moment, eyes shining and alight with laughter; the next moment, dead and cold as the winter air. And you would regret it- regret every meeting him, regret being his friend, regret not listening to yourself; not preparing for this exact moment. The day he left you.
She held him, and she felt life burning beneath her finger tips; a flickering, effete flame, so charismatic, as he slowly faded away into time itself. He smiled to her; eyes shining and he looked ready, so ready, for the furious adventure that lay ahead of him. And it broke your heart to see him like that; he was so real; so incredibly, unbearably human. She could not even imagine her life without him, he was the reason she was living today, the reason she knew what it was liked to be cared for, to feel special, to be loved. And the pain was almost unbearable, as was the sight; him turning to you and smiling so brightly you thought nothing in the world could ever make you unhappy again; he was so incredibly unbreakable. Then, in a rush of speeding sound and color, he was gone. And it broke you; you had nothing to live for anymore.
But you remembered….
"Just live, Hermione. I can wait for you."
He could wait for her.
And she could wait, too.
