So, the Maiko bit in the finale- definitely not as good as it could have been (but then again, there were plenty of other things in the finale that weren't as good as they could have been).
Pulling the sleeve of the robe over his arm, the Fire Lord winced, immediately moving his hand to his bandaged abdomen. The robe now hung loosely on his one shoulder, threatening to fall to the floor, which would only make things worse for Lord Zuko.
Grunting, he attempted once more to dress himself until a pair of hands took hold of his arm and torso, and worked the robe onto him. The hands helping him were cold, yet with each touch from their fingers his body grew warmer.
"You looked like you were having difficulties,"
"Mai," Zuko turned around to face her, his eyes lightening up, though he tried to keep his expression even.
"Zuko- or, I suppose it's Fire Lord now." she responded.
"They let you out of prison?" he asked, somewhat stupidly.
"Obviously. Though, my uncle did have to pull a few strings,"
"I-I'm," Zuko sighed, "I'm sorry,"
"I know," Mai replied. "But, when I was in the prison, I finally understood what you meant. The world is a mess, and we're the ones who caused it."
"And now I need to help fix it," Zuko said. "The war may have ended but there is still a lot that needs to be done before peace is completely restored."
"Another part of you destiny?" Mai questioned, taking a step closer to him.
"Yes, but, of course, only part of it,"
"I assume you have fulfilled the rest of your destiny, then,"
"Most of it," Zuko said, placing his hands on her arms.
"What else is there to do?" Mai asked, nervous for the first time since she was a child.
Zuko didn't speak. He turned his head to look out the window, grasping gingerly onto Mai.
"There are two things," he said after a moment's silence.
"Just two?"
Nodding, the Fire Lord continued. "I need to find my mother, where she is and what happened to her." He turned his head back to face her. "And I need to marry you,"
Mai stood still, her hand now resting on his chest. "What a romantic proposal that was,"
Shaking his head, Zuko pulled Mai in closer and kissed her before she had the chance to do anything else.
Okay, so maybe this little drabble wasn't any better, but I did enjoy writing it (and the idea seemed so much better in my head).
