Kassidy Stone and her brother Alec were walking down Main Street. She was going to see if the library had this new book she wanted to read. Alec was only coming so he could check out the comics. Kassidy and her brother didn't have any parents. They had died in a car accident. They swerved off the road to avoid a person and crashed into a tree. Kassidy's Aunt Lily had brought them up since she was 4 and Alec was 2. Kassidy didn't think about it much anymore. She had moved out of her aunt's house a year before, when she turned 18, and Alec went with her. They needed each other. Presently, they walked into the library. It was eerily quiet, but Kassidy shook it off. Alec wandered off in search of comic books, and Kassidy went over to the help desk. "Excuse me," she asked the young man there, "do you have the book Our Own Dream?" He looked up at her. His eyes were old, like they had seen a lot. "I'm not sure. Let's go ask a worker!" He stood up and walked down an aisle. Kassidy followed him, confused. "You don't work here?" She said. "Nope," the man replied, turning a corner. Kassidy hurried to catch up. "So why were you at the help desk?" She asked. "Because I like to help people," he responded. She was about to ask another question when the man crashed into something and fell backwards. Kassidy stared straight ahead. There was nothing there. He got up, spun around, and said quickly, "There's nobody here, no workers, no customers, except you, why?" She swallowed nervously and answered, "Um, because I wanted a book?" He nodded. "Okay. Why does nobody else want a book?" She didn't understand. "Did you notice the keep out sign when you got here?" Kassidy shook her head. The man suddenly stared behind her, looking afraid. "What's going on?" Kassidy asked. She wanted to find Alec and leave. The man stared past her, not blinking. "Come here," he told her, still watching whatever was back there. She walked toward him, unsure. The man snapped his fingers and a door to a box opened. Kassidy was surprised. "Where did that come from?!" She exclaimed. He didn't say anything, just pushed her into the box and backed in after, slamming the door and pointing a buzzy thing at the lock. Kassidy looked around, awestruck. "It's... Bigger... On the inside," she said slowly. The man jumped up the steps, pulled a lever, and Kassidy heard a groaning sound. "Right, I'm going to need you to stay here," the man told her, clapping his hands together. "Wait a second!" Kassidy said, recovering quickly. "Who are you?" The man smiled, fixed his bowtie, and responded, "I'm The Doctor."
