Clearly I'm the only sane person left on this planet. But then again, if you knew Tomo for ten years like I have, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. That lazy crazy Bonkura just does something to me, and I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. I've come to expect —even anticipate— her nightly visits, though her morning visits never fail to startle me and leave me wondering why, exactly, I put up with her.

Like this morning, for example. Shortly after yelling my name at the top of her lungs, she burst into my room holding my karaoke microphone, with the cord stuffed down the front of her skirt. I honestly thought she was going to serenade me or something, especially since her singing is better than mine... eh-heh, but Tomo didn't hear that, and neither did you. So I did the only sane thing possible. I freaked.

Exactly why, I might add, do I not only pay even a speck of attention to Tomo's daily ramblings, but sometimes actively participate? This morning, before class, she was going on and on about hydrangeas, and not even Chiyo-chan could figure out what Tomo was getting at. Poor Tomo, I think she was getting frustrated. If she'd only make herself clear. (sighs) And then there are times when she makes herself very clear. We met back in the second grade, and next Tuesday marks our tenth year of friendship. Tomo has no idea, of course, that I'm planning to surprise her by taking her out to dinner that night at a nice restaurant. But when she brought up the subject last week, she simply referred to it as "our ten-year anniversary" and hinted that she had a surprise in store for me. Sounds nice...hey, wait a second...

"Anniversary?! We aren't even married, baka!"

Really, that girl can be so annoying sometimes. Even though she always stood up for me in elementary school, there were times when we could barely admit we could stand each other, and it wasn't until junior high that our friend Kasumi told me Tomo used bickering to mask her flirting. Tomo and I. we've been through so much, and worse. There's no way I could let go of her now. But when my favorite hyper girl gets on my nerves just a little too much, I snap at her and send her away with a "Yomi Double Chop". But when I'm alone in my room, a small voice in my head reminds me—"Yomi, you wouldn't put up with her annoyance unless you liked it"—and there's that old saying that those who play together stay together...
