Breaking Hermione
Hermione sat under a tree watching fellow students swim in the lake. Since the end of the war, life at Hogwarts hadn't been too good. Where ever she went, Slytherins tried to make her life hell for taking down Voldemort, and everyone else asked her about what she saw and how she survived. She hated answering them. Hated remembering the horrific things she saw. She had lost more friends and family than most but they didn't seem to understand that.
The bell for supper rang in the distance and Hermione closed the open book in her lap and stood up. Stuffing it in her bag, she threw her bag over she shoulder and started walking towards the castle. She walked past a group of Slytherins and they started snickering. She looked at them and they stopped. She looked away, continued walking and they started snickering again. Stopping, she turned and looked at them.
"What?" she asked, completely fed up with them. When they answered by laughing, she rolled her eyes and turned back to the castle.
A few moments passed and she could tell that they were following her. Then suddenly, she was completely soaked from head to toe. People all around her laughed. Turning around, her bangs in her face, she took a deep breath. Then she walked up to the group of laughing Slytherins.
"Laugh all you want. I don't care." She said, then turned around and started walking away.
"Well, boys, looks like we've finally broken our little muddblood friend." Sneered Malfoy.
Hermione stopped and turned around. "You will never break me, ferret."
"And why's that, Granger?"
"I've been to hell and back…" she said as she started towards him and his friends.
"I spill shit, trip and embarrass myself. I can't just flutter my eyes and get that boy. My life is messed up. I've been through more shit than you see on TV. I'm not perfect, no one is…" she said looking him up and down, as if to say that he's not fooling anyone.
"But I've been lied to, cheated on, and had my heart stolen. I've fucked up, fucked people up and been fucked up, but every hit was worth it because I felt it. I knew it was real. Life is real, and I'm living it wrong everyday. I'm fucking up royally and doing everything opposite, but do I regret one thing? Never. Because at one point, what I did was exactly what I wanted and I got my fucking satisfaction…"
By now, Hermione had Malfoy backed up against the tree and Harry, Ron and the Weasley twins had joined the group of watchers.
"My life is mine and no stupid bitches or immature boys can fuck it up for me anymore. I'm me and that's all I'm ever going to be and I'd love to see you try and fucking break me."
With Malfoy pressing himself against the tree, Hermione turned on her heel and walked away from the group of Slytherins, past the group of watchers and smiled to herself she realized that what she said was true.
Her life was hers and no one else's. And it was time she took control of it.
