Disclaimer I own HxH like I own a clan of killer badgers. In a pretend world.
Kuroi-chan's disclaimer: The nickname Sagi-chan is copyrighted to Kuroi. Any other who uses it will be mocked, laughed at, and will ultimately suffer at the hands of her vengeful and depressing wrath. That and she'll nag me into yelling at you.
Saaski-chan's disclaimer: The nickname Leeni-chan belongs to Saaski. Use it and die.
AN: This is my second step into the Hunter X Hunter world, so don't be too harsh with me. The first was a PWP, this is just a drabble. Please remember that I've only read the Manga (scans from online, no less) and I might be missing some things. I'm hoping that I keep these characters in-character so please let me know if I'm wrong. Other than that, enjoy!
Sweets for the Sweet
Some people say that only good children should be awarded with sweets, treats and nice things. Good children that do what their parents ask of them, exercise the manners that they were taught, do their chores without needing to be told. Good children are seen and not heard, they don't break the rules.
Killua, well, he was never the idol child in his family. He was the most skilled, sure. But he rebelled like all of his siblings hadn't.
Killua hadn't had a sweet thing until he was abandoned at the fighting tower at age four. And he didn't have any other sweet things until he ran away from home to take the Hunters Exam.
"Sweets for the sweet!" A kindly old woman had been saying, handing out candy to good little children that stayed with their mothers on the crowded streets. The mothers smiled down at their children at that.
Killua's mother would sooner electrocute him than hand him candy with a smile.
She would sooner send him to kill one of those sweet children before smiling at him period.
"Sweets for the sweet."
Maybe, Killua thought suddenly, I can become sweet if I eat sweets.
It was a strange twist on the strange phrase, but it was worth a try. He snuck by the lady handing out candy, managing to snag a handful unnoticed. Well, eating it hadn't exactly made him a sweeter person, but it had tasted good. And... Well, maybe it took more than just a handful of sweets to make somebody sweet.
So, he got more. And more. And pretty soon he was dealing with a candy addiction because he was never sweet enough.
Until he met Gon. And he became best friends with Gon. Gon made him feel like he had finally eaten enough candy to be sweet. Gon liked him as who he was. Gon made him think that he didn't need sweets to be sweet.
That didn't mean he stopped eating sweets, of course. The fact that he has a candy addiction has already been established.
"Sweets for the sweet," Killua decided with a wry smile. "What a load of junk."
"Hm?" Gon asked, looking up from his book. His eyes landed on the large pile of candy wrappers near his friends' feet. "Killua, did you just eat that whole pile of candy?"
"It tasted good, too!"
"That was supposed to last you a month!"
"...it tasted good too!"
A reluctant laugh emerged before Gon turned back to his book.
Killua smirked and threw the last candy bar at his friends head.
Yes, he was definitely sweet enough. He was even sharing his candy now.
AN: Um... now that I've written this, it's kind of stupid. (sweatdrops) Er, I'd ask for reviews, but I don't think anybody made it all the way down here... If you did, review?
