The scenery rolling by was magnificent, and Max had to restrain herself from waking the others just so they could stare at it with her. Her mother was still awake, though she hardly seemed mystified by the sights. Though, Max reasoned, it was nearly three in the morning, and they had been driving since four in the afternoon.

Ella snorted in her sleep, and there was a slightly muted 'thud' of someone's head hitting a window or something. The leader's head twisted in her sleep, curious as to who had attacked the window in their sleep. Her neck craned a little uncomfortably as she surveyed the mass of bodies in the back seat.

'Bingo.'

Nudge's head was against the glass of the window behind the driver's side, dark hair splayed every which way, and a strip of the girl's white bangs was stuck to the corner of her mouth by a small dot of drool that had escaped her mouth.

'That might actually be cute, if it weren't for the drool.' The eldest decided as she observed her family.

"Max?" Angel's voice was thick with sleep as the seven year old stirred against her side, cerulean blue eyes opening to stare dazedly to stare at her mother figure.

"Look, sweetie," Max whispered, pointing out the window at the water that gleamed celestially in the moonlight.

"It's so pretty." The blonde dropped a kiss on the girl's head as Angel leaned across her to get a better look, small pink lips forming a small 'o' in wonderment.

After a fair amount of staring, and little bit more of hushed conversation, Max finally fell asleep, after what felt like a millennia of long nights.
