Hunger Gamers Fan-Fiction: Part 1:

It wasn't the sound of the heart monitor that woke me; nor was it the sound of Haymitch screaming into my ear; holding onto any last hope that I might wake up. What woke me, was Prim's agonizing last words. "Katniss." I don't know how I got here. Nor do I know why I am here. I should be in 12. With Peeta. With my children. Where I belong. "Finally awake?" Haymitch asked me. I sense the tenseness of his voice. "What happened," I ask him. His lips open to attempt to say something he has so strongly been trying to hide, but then Peeta walks into the room. That's when I realize what's wrong. The kids. The kids! THE KIDS! "Peeta! Where are they! Where are my children!" Tears fall from his cheeks. I know this can't be good. I am screaming, pounding, and turning in to whatever monster was always concealed inside me. Peeta and Haymitch are directed out of the room by a group of peacekeepers, yet Peeta is still calling my name. "Katniss. Katniss. Katniss." It hurts me to hear those words. The head doctor walks into the room. He holds a long syringe. I do anything it takes to straggle myself away from him, but it's useless. I am strapped to my bed, not knowing what's happening, where my children are, why there are peacekeepers here, and why I'm not dead. The words echo in my head. "Katniss. Katniss. Katniss." Aren't I the girl on fire? No. I'm the one who caused the fire. Who caused the death of all those innocent people. I try to remember any bit of what I have left to hold on to, but I know it's too late. The needle has already penetrated my skin, and that's when very hint goes dark.
