I've wanted to write this for a while. I got the idea from tumblr I believe and I thought it was a great idea so I figured I would try this out. :) I hope you all like it!

Gray. Everything was gray. Day in and day out, for thirty two years. The red head sighed, running his hand through his hair. He drug himself out of bed and into the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. He noticed every detail of his face. The slight bag under his eye, every strand of his scraggly hair. He saw everything, except color. He had no idea what color his hair was. Everything was just a shade of gray. He shook his head, glaring at himself in the mirror. He started the shower, ridding himself of his boxers and jumping in to the hot water. He looked at everything around him. Seeing gray every day was really beginning to depress him. He started washing his hair, watching the water hit his skin. It was the same routine every day. Nothing changed in his life. It was a dull, boring life. He was tired of hearing everyone around him brag about the colors they saw when he was still locked in a colorless world. He turned the water off, shaking his head a bit and grabbing the towel on the rack. He rubbed himself down, wrapping the towel around his waist.

He adjusted his tie in the mirror, shook his hair a bit and nodded to himself. He grabbed his car keys and wallet, exiting his house and climbed into his car. He headed to his job, fixated on his life. He had never once seen any other color besides the typical white, gray, and black. He shrugged it off, pulling into the parking lot. He parked and began walking into the office.

"Good morning, Dr. Akasuna," a female greeted him at the door. He walked up to her, grabbing a few charts from her desk.

"Morning Ms. Haruno. Anything important this morning?" he questioned. She flipped through a few papers before smiling.

"Looks like Mr. Uchiha has an appointment in two hours for his cat. Other than that... Oh! Looks like you have an interview for a Mr. Iwa?" The red head paused, thinking back at the applications he had received.

"Oh, yes. Deidara Iwa. He's looking to be my new Vet Tech. What time?"

"At eight. You have an hour to prepare for everything. I checked on Konan's dog, Chibi. He seems to be getting better so you may want to do a quick checkup on him so I can call Konan and let her know," Sakura informed. Sasori nodded, grabbing the files and walking into his office. He set his things down, put his white coat on and headed to the kennels. He unlocked Chibi's kennel, the small dog jumping out and right into Sasori's arms.

"Good morning, Chibi," he mused, carrying the dog into his exam room. He unconsciously pet the dog as he was walking, deep in thought. He placed the dog on the table, petting the dog as he grabbed the muzzle. While the dog loved him, he hated when Sasori had to actually examin him. He calmly placed the muzzle around his snout and clipped it into place. He ran his hands down the dogs side, gently pushing on the dogs stomach from all angles. He laid the dog down, gently strapping him to the table. Grabbing the handle on the machine hanging above him, he positioned it above the dogs stomach. He stepped into the small room, hitting a couple buttons. He stepped out, walking back to the dog and raised the machine while unstrapping the dog. He sat at the computer, placing the dog on his lap while he logged on and pulled up the x-rays on his computer.

"Looks like everything's back to normal. You dodged death this time, Chibi," Sasori chuckled, picking the dog up and letting the dog lick his face.

"Dr. Akasuna? Your interview is here," Sakura peaked around the door.

"Thank you, Ms. Haruno, I'll be there in just a little bit," Sasori called out, standing up. "Oh, and Ms. Haruno? You can call Konan and let her know that her dog is fine. And please tell her to keep her dog away from garbage."

"Alright, I'll get right on it," she sang out. She closed the door, leading Sasori's interview into his office. Sasori walked out of the exam room and into his office, Chibi still in his arms.

"Good morning. I am Sasori Akasuna, owner." Sasori greeted, holding his free hand out. Deidara stood up, shaking Sasori's hand. He smiled, sitting back down.

"Dr. Akasuna, I'm so glad you called me back!" he squirmed. Sasori sat down, cocking his head at the unusual display in front of him.

"So, Mr. Iwa, what made you choose this office? I don't remember ever seeing you in here..." Sasori informed.

"Oh! I'm friends with Konan and she told me how great you were and I wanted to work for a top Veterinarian!" Sasori nodded. He kept petting to dog, asking the boy a few questions here and there and trying to make small talk.

"Do you have you're degree with you?" the older male asked. Deidara nodded, flipping through his folder before retrieving his degree. He handed it to the older male, letting him examin the paper. The red head chuckled, handing the paper back to the blond. "You attended the same college I went to," he mused. Deidara squinted his eyes for a second, confused.

"But, Mr. Akasuna, the degree is from Veterinary Technology..." he began. Sasori smirked, scratching Chibi behind the ear.

"I know. I started out thinking I wasn't going to be good enough for medicine. When I realized my talents, I knew I had to become a Veterinarian. Anyway, enough about me. Deidara," he began, placing the dog down. He leaned over, placing his elbows on his knees and rested his chin on the back of his hand. The blond held his breath, waiting for Sasori to continue. "When can you start?" he asked, smirking again. Deidara's eyes gleamed and he sat staring into Sasori's eyes.

"Well... Mr. Akasuna," Sasori held his hand out, stopping Deidara from continuing his sentence.

"Look, I understand that I'm going to be your boss now, but I'm not much for formalities. You can call me Sasori," he smiled. Deidara's breath hitched for a few seconds. He nodded, looking away as he began to blush.

"Umm... Sasori... I can start today if you would like," he muttered. Sasori grabbed the dog, standing up.

"Are you sure? I can give you a day to get everything in order if you want. You seem a little... Shocked," he deadpanned.

"Well, Sasori, I'm just surprised is all! This was my first time applying at a Veterinary office and I can't believe I got the job. It didn't even feel like much of an interview," the blond admitted. Ssaori chuckled, signaling the younger boy to follow him. Deidara immidently got up, walking next to Sasori.

"Well, I'll be honest with you, Deidara. I'm a little hesitant because you are fresh out of college, but I'll admit that I have a good feeling about you. You seem confident and ready to learn. Plus, I know Konan. She wouldn't have told you to apply here if she didn't think you would meet my criteria. I'm confident you won't let me down," he smirked, placing Chibi in his cage again.

"I'm so glad Sasori! I won't let you down, sir!" Deidara giggled. He followed Sasori back to his office, passing Sakura on the way.

"Ms. Haruno, as you know, this is Deidara Iwa. He will be working with me now," Sasori informed. Sakura smiled up at the blond, nodding.

"Welcome to the team, Mr. Iwa," she giggled. Deidara nodded.

"Thank you, Ms. Haruno." Sasori motioned for the blond to follow him. They walked to the exam room and Sasori closed the door behind Deidara.

"Alright, so we have an appointment coming in in about a half an hour. Would you like to try to preform the exam?" he questioned. The younger boy gaped at the red head. He shook his head, blushing again.

"I can't Mr. Akasuna! I don't know what I'm supposed to do!" Sasori cocked an eyebrow, leaning back into the counter and crossing his arms. He stared at the flustering blond for a bit, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Sasori, I've never been in this position before!" Deidara whined. The red head chuckled, placing a hand on the blonds head.

"I'll be right by your side. The patient is a regular here and her owner is pather nice and laid back. I think this would be good for you," Sasori looked right into Deidara's eyes. "Deidara," he breathed. The blond froze. He felt his face heat up but he couldn't move. He simply nodded, invoking a smile from Sasori. Sasori strode out of the exam room into his personal office, glancing back to see if Deidara was following. The blond jumped, quickly following his boss into the office, shutting the door behind himself. The blond watched as the older male opened his file cabinet, shuffling through the files before pulling one out and handing it to the blond.

Deidara hesitantly took the file from Sasori's hand, opening it up and looking through. Sasori placed his hands in his pockets, watching his new employee going through their patients file. He glanced up at Sasori, knowing he was being watched. He closed the file, smiling. "Zazzle seems to just need a checkup. Basic shots and making sure everything is normal," he beamed. Sasori chuckled, pushing himself off the desk.

"Are you positive?" he questioned. Deidara tightened his grip on the file, not daring to check it again to see what he was missing.

"Positive, sir," he stated, his voice shaking. Sasori stepped closer to the blond, looking down at him. He calmly reached out, grabbing the file from Deidara's grip and opened it. He checked the file, his eyes lazily looking up from the file and into Deidara's eyes. He shut the file, causing the blond to jump. Sasori smirked at this and turned around.

"Good job," he praised. The blond let out a sigh, smiling to himself. Sasori turned back around, handing the file back. "She's all your," he smiled. Deidara looked him dead in the eye, nodding. Sasori blinked, looking at Deidara's eyes again. Slowly, the color of his eyes appeared. He stepped back, clearing his throat.

"What are the color of your eyes, Deidara?" Sasori asked. Deidara looked at him and shrugged.

"I don't know. I can't see color yet. I would assume you'd know considering you've looked me in the eye more than once," he admitted. Sasori shook his head.

"Nope. I'm unable to see color either," the red head shrugged. Deidara shrugged. Just then, a knock was at the door. Deidara turned around, opening the door.

"Itachi Uchiha is here, Mr. Akasuna." Sakura informed. Sasori nodded.

"Thank you, Ms. Haruno. Deidara will be out in a second," he stated. Sakura nodded, closing the door. Deidara spun around, wide eyed. He shook his head silently, holding the file out for Sasori. The red head shook his head, pushing the file back. He stepped over to Deidara, hovering over him again.

"You'll do fine. I'll be there if you need anything. Now, Deidara, you have a patient to attend to," he nodded towards the waiting room. Taking a deep breath, Deidara turned on his heel and headed out of the office. He saw a black haired man with a pet carrier next to him. The man noticed him and stood up.

"Ah, you must be Deidara," he smiled, extending his hand. Deidara smiled back, shaking Itachi's hand. "It's so nice to meet you. I heard this is your first day, correct?" Deidara nodded. "Don't worry, I trust Sasori. If he believes you can do this, so do I. I'm also your first patient ever, right?" Deidara sighed, nodding apathetically. Itachi placed a hand on the blonds shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll do fine," he smiled. He bent down, picking the pet carrier up. He walked behind Deidara to the exam room, placing the carrier on the metal table. As Deidara let the cat out, Itachi turned to Sasori.

"How have you been, Sasori?" he asked. The red head turned away from the blond, looking at the Uchiha.

"I've been good. How have you been, Itachi? I heard your little brother is advancing in the family company?" he questioned. Itachi chuckled, nodding.

"Yes, Sasuke is getting far. I'm good, but I feel Sasuke's going to surpass me. He's really proving himself. My father is even starting to take an interest in him," he smiled. Sasori's eyes widened, a small gasp passed his lips.

"Fugaku? He's interested in Sasuke? Well, I'm glad he's getting what he deserves," he smiled. He turned his attention back to Deidara. He had just finished administering the shots to the cat and watched him look over the chart again. "Oh, Itachi likes having Zazzle's claws cut. Do you feel confident doing that? I have a muzzle if you would like to use that, Deidara," Sasori enlightened. Deidara nodded.

"It might help," he expressed. Sasori walked over, opening a drawer and grabbing the muzzle. He handed it to Deidara and opened another drawer, pulling the clippers out. Deidara finished with the muzzle, grabbing the clippers. He breathed, exposing a claw one by one and clipping it. Sasori and Itachi watched in awe at the percision and how smoothly he was excuting it. Within a few minutes, Deidara was finished.

"Well, I'm impressed. Sasori, I think you hired the right person. Now you might be able to take those vacations you were talking about," the Uchiha joked. Sasori chuckled.

"I'm impressed too. Deidara, do you think you have it from here? I'll get Itachi ready to leave." Deidara nodded, smiling as he removed the muzzle from the cat. Sasori escorted Itachi out of the room and towards Sakura.

"All done?" she questioned. Sasori nodded and she began typing away. Itachi pulled his card out, ready to pay.

"Itachi, can I ask you a question?"

"Of course. What's up?" Sasori hesitated.

"Well... You see color right? What color is Deidara's eyes?" he inquired. Itachi looked at him, trying to read through the question.

"Blue gray. If you're asking about basic coloring, they would be considered a blue. Let me guess, you're asking because you're starting to see color," he contemplated. Sasori sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"Yes. And considering I've never seen color, I need to learn them now," he sighed. Itachi snickered.

"Well, before you ask, my hair and eyes are both black. Deidara's hair is considered blond, but there are varying shades of blond. His is surprisingly a yellowish. Your hair is a bright red, I would consider it blood red. And yes blood is red so you'll be seeing that a lot considering your hair and your job. Animals are a lot of different colors, but you probably know that. Your eyes are in the brown catagory. More golden brown." Itachi smiled at Sasori.

"Thanks, Itachi. How long before you see full color?" Itachi rubbed his chin.

"Well, it varies, but typically a week. Now, let me ask you a question. Are you seeing somebody or is this because of Deidara?" Sasori looked away, embarassed. "Well, congratulations. You better thank Konan for this," he smiled.

"I know this is wrong. He's twenty two and I'm thirty two. That's a ten year difference, Itachi. Plus, we're both males. While I have literally no problem with that, everyone around me has a partner of the opposite sex. Plus, considering I wasn't very experimental at a young age, I've never been psycial with another person," he admitted.

"Look, Sasori, you're overthinking this. You'll know what to do when the time comes," he smirked. Itachi began walking back into the exam room. "Oh, by the way, you're skin is pale and Deidara's is a nice tan. I don't know if it's just natural or if he tans," he winked. Sasori sighed, dragging his hand over his face. Deidara walked out of the room after Itachi and stood next to Sasori.

"What's tan?" he asked. Sasori froze. Did Deidara hear the whole conversation?! When he got no response, he asked again. "What's tan? Is it a color?" he asked, looking up at Sasori.

"That's what Itachi said," he whispered. He walked towards his office, dropping the conversation. Deidara followed, determined to keep it going.

"Why were you talking about colors?" he asked. Sasori ran a hand through his hair.

"We were talking about them because I want to learn about them," he clipped. Deidara smirked, sitting down next to him.

"Why learn about colors if you can't see them?" Sasori sighed. He looked at Deidara, watching the smirk grow.

"I can tell you already know then?"

"From the very beginning," he mused. Sasori looked away, blushing lightly. "So, what are you going to do about it?" he asked.

"I don't know," he sighed. "What do you want to do about it?"

Deidara gasped. A small, twisted smile began appearing. "So... It's me, huh?" he taunted. Sasori's head jarred back in surprise. He covered his mouth as he watched Deidara begin to laugh.

"You didn't know..." he whispered.

"I'm messing with you, Sasori! I knew. Color came to me as soon as I laid eyes on you. I've been able to see color for a little over a month now," he shrugged. Sasori stared at him. He soffed before turning back to his computer.

"Good try, Deidara." he growled.

"I'm not kidding! I was with Yahiko when he ran into you at the store. You didn't really see me anyway. Yahiko stopped to talk to you, I looked at you for a little bit but I walked away so you two could talk. I looked at your eyes and there were specks of color. I was confused because I had never seen color. I thought it was a fluke so I asked Yahiko. He laughed at me and told me that's the first color you see. Their eyes," he giggled. "He told me that you were a vet and, since I have a vet tech degree, I figured why not. If anything, I wasn't going to get the job and you would've found out, right?"

Sasori sat, stunned. He was at a loss for words.

"I get it," Deidara breathed. He stood up. "It's hard to get used to, but I'm here now. I just... really want to get to know you," he smiled. He turned around, walking out of the room.

"No, Deidara! Don't leave!" he called out. Deidara whipped around, his hair flying over his face. "It's just... Scary. I'm ten years older than you and I've never actually... uhhh..."

"Me either. I've never even kissed anyone..." he flushed. Sasori stood up, walking over to Deidara. He awkwardly wrapped his arms around the petite waist and pulled him into a hug.

"At least you're beautiful," Sasori smirked. Deidara sensed the sarcasm and smacked his chest playfully.

"Geez, way to be subtle about that," he laughed. "I get it though. It's pretty awkward," he admitted, resting his head on Sasori's chest. He breathed in Sasori's scent.

"Well... Would you like to go out tonight then?" Deidara smiled, wrapping his arms around Sasori.

"I would love to." he grinned.
