I don't own them. I really like r/hr, but I like Lavender by herself. Blondes have more fun.

"Do you see why he likes her?" said the blonde-haired girl to her best friend. The two were sitting at a table in the Gyffindor common room. Lavender had a roll of parchment in front of her and Parvati had the latest issue of Witch Weekly open on the table.

"Who?" said Parvati, her dark eyes scanning the page. Lavender dipped her eagle-feather quill into the bright pink ink and swirled it around. She wrote her name at the top in big, loopy cursive. She paused and let her eyes traveled across the room to where a tall, red-haired boy was giving his essay to a disgusting girl with extremely bushy, icky brown hair. His beautiful, blue eyes stayed on her for too long before his ears turned pink and he looked away quickly. Lavender could feel tears sting behind her light blue eyes. She shut her eyes and bit her lower lip.

"Do you like her?"

"Who?!" said Parvati, closing her magazine and looking up at Lavender. "Oh, Lavender, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she said, wiping her eyes on her sleeve, careful not to mess up her make up, "and I'm talking about Granger."

"Oh, Lavender..." Parvati shut her magazine and swung her shiny braid over her shoulder. "Let's go upstairs."

"Okay." Lavender sniffed again. They gathered their work and went to the Girl's Dormitory. Lavender slammed the door behind her and didn't bother to stop the tears from making cool paths down her flawless cheeks. "Can you see them together? I can't. And seriously, they are not hair compatible. I mean, Witch Weekly says that blondes are supposed to be with redheads. Brunettes are only good with other brunettes or blondes. They totally clash! Can't she just go after Harry? They would be cute. They are not allowed to do this! It's completely throwing off the order of the world! I look much cuter with him."

The girl paused in front of the floor length mirror. She could see Parvati sitting on the bed behind her, playing with her dark brown braid. Lavender nervously moved her light blue eyes to her own face. Flawless. She didn't have a single honey-blonde colored hair out of place from under her pink headband. Her make up was a little smudged from crying, but it still gave her a sort of depressing-but-pretty look. There wasn't a single mark on her face that wasn't supposed to be there. Her eyes dropped. Granger couldn't compete with her there. She was wearing her Gryffindor uniform, a button lower than allowed and her skirt a few inches higher than allowed. Weren't boys supposed to like that sort of thing? She buttoned the button and pulled the skirt down to where it was supposed to be, just below her knees. She looked like a school girl. Which, she was, but she looked like a good school girl. She looked like a, even-toothed, bleached hair Granger who used helpful haircare tips from magazines, like normal girls.

"She's not even that pretty." Lavender's eyes flashed with fear. "Is she prettier than me? Is that it? Did I miss an article that says that boys like bushy hair and uneven teeth?" She knew that Parvati had long ago stopped listening. She put her uniform back to normal and redid her make up. After turning around, she saw that Parvati once again had the magazine open.

"Vati? I'm gonna go and visit Professor Trelawney. See what she thinks, okay?"

"Alright, Lav. I'll be here reading. See you later, and remember, you can always talk to me."
