Episode 1 - Let's Torchic Him!
Me: Hello again everyone! You all know the drill, I do not own Pokemon, I just LOVE the series and the games. All I get from this story are the lovely reviews I receive from viewers just like you and the joy of getting my thoughts out there! I was inspired to write this story after reading Pokemon Story Arc ( s/11074053/1/Pok%C3%A9mon-Story-Arc-Ep-1 ) written by my boyfriend Seth. My story takes place in the Hoenn region as I have played COUNTLESS hours of Pokemon Emerald for Gameboy Advance and it was my favorite game besides Fire Emblem And The Scared Stones, which houses my first game crush Seth. Isn't that something. Lol. However, one is a gallant, red-headed knight, the other has dark brown hair. Lol ;) It will also follow the Pokemon Emerald game arc but allows the capture of wild starter Pokemon. I always very upset that you could not do that in the games but Ash always catches all three starter Pokemon. Which begs the question "WHY GAME CREATORS?! WHY!" Lol. I hope you enjoy.
"Our story begins in the Hoenn region, as a young girl by the name of Amira moves into the small town of Littleroot. What adventures await our young hero?"
Amira lies on boxes on her back with her arms behind her head and her legs up against a tower of boxes. About a foot above her head floats Guide To Be A Better Trainer, this will make the fiftieth time she's read it completely through. "Moriko? Do you want one of these?" Amira reaches into the bag that sets on the floor of the moving truck and pulls out a bag of organ berries.
A ralts floats down from a top the book and curls up next to Amira's head. "Yes Ami. Thank you." The voice of the young ralts echos in Amira's head as she takes two of them out and hands one to the pokemon and pops one in her mouth. All of sudden, the van abruptly stops causing Amira to hit the wall and Moriko to hide in her backpack.
Amira gets up, rubbing her forehead, "You'd think that after earlier, they would slow down a bit." Amira swings her legs around to the front and gently slings her backpack on. She walks the short distance of the truck and the door opens before her.
"Amira, honey!" Amira's mother wraps her tightly in a hug, "I'm so sorry you had to ride in the back of the moving truck, did the china make it through?" Her mother's voice drips with concern for both her daughter and the tea set Amira's great-great grandmother had given her mother.
"Mom, it shattered on the way down here. I'm so sorry." Amira smiles as thick sarcasm drips off her voice. "No, it's all in one piece and I got some reading done and had a snack." Amira turns toward the house with her mother.
"So this adorable little town is Littleroot Town," her mother places a hand on her side and the other on her shoulder, "How do you think we'll like it? This is going to be our new home, and I'm sure it will feel that way soon. It's kind of quiet, but that's a good thing don't you think?"
"Of course it does mom," Amira says more to sooth her mother than to answer her question.
"And you get a room separate from all your father's awkward strays, Amira!" this gets Amira's attention because she had to share with her father's apprentice last time. It was awkward whenever there was a new one or if it was a guy. "Come on let's get inside. Oh look, Amira! Isn't gorgeous here?" Boxes are being hurried to their place by pokemon so she just nods. "The pokemon are the mover's, it's part of his package, pack, move, unpack and clean! Isn't he just sweet? Your room is up stairs at the end of the hall. Dad bought you a clock, so please set it, you can be so late sometimes." Amira giggles at her.
Amira just nods again and crosses the living room to the stairs straight from the door, she walks up the stairs and sees a sign at the end of the hallway that she made last year that says "Amira's room. Unless your Amira or a pokemon, PLEASE KNOCK!" after she got tired of her father's apprentice walking in on her when she was changing. The memory makes it's way to Moriko's mind and she says telepathically "How rude of him." Amira just replies "He always blushed and ran out, making sure to apologize endlessly for the rest of the day." She turns the nob with her hand in case anyone was watching and enters her new room. It looks a lot like her old room. The same giant purple rug her father got for her on her fifth birthday, the TV, game system and map she bought with her allowance, her grandmother's desk, her PokeJornal, the computer her mom got her for her sixteenth, the bed she also got from her grandmother, and the bedspread she got from her grandfather on her seventeenth birthday. The only thing that was new was the flower like clock on the wall near the door. She looks at the wristwatch she got a week ago on her eighteenth birthday from the friend she had to leave behind. She takes the clock down and turns it to 3:15 and places it on the wall, glancing at her watch as she does, and notices that she set it a minute behind. "Moriko, it's safe to come out, Mom always knocks and the movers are done with my room."
The small ralts flies out of her backpack and looks around the room, finally settling on Amira's bed. Amira slings off her backpack and lies next to her on her stomach and opens her book again as the bag of organ berries floats up and on to the bed between them. An organ berry on the small side floats into Amira's mouth as a much larger one floats next to Moriko.
The noises of the movers stop and a knock is heard at the door. Moriko floats down to the side of the bed so Amira's mother can't see her and Amira tells her mother that she can come in. "Amira, how's the house? Your room?"
Amira smiles and jokes, "The house looks amazing, but my room looks like my old one but larger and all mine."
Her mother smiles and laughs, "Good! Everything's put away neatly! They finished moving everything in downstairs, too. Pokemon movers are so convenient! Oh, you should make sure that everything's all there on your such an odd child! I see the movers put everything away nice and neat. Their done down stairs too so set your clock and make sure everything is here okay?" She leaves again and Amira hears the living room TV turn on.
She walks to her desk and enters her PC password 'PokeLove,' she then takes out the potion she bought and sticks it in her front right pouch of her backpack. "I'm gonna need this. I'm getting out of here as soon as possible now that Dad is in a separate town to be at the gym and I can get away with having pokemon other than a normal type."
"Why must you have normal type pokemon?" Moriko's says in Amira's mind.
"My dad wants me to be a normal type trainer and follow in his footsteps to be a Gym Leader with normal type as my specialty. I so don't want that. I have psychic powers, isn't it normal that I have a psychic or ghost type pokemon? Granted, they don't know that."
"Why not?"
"My dad would probably freak, but I want more than one or two types of pokemon. I want to learn about them all, know how to take care of them. I still haven't decided if I wanna run a daycare center, be a breeder or a pokemon professor. My life sucks, but at least I get to meet one of Dad's friends who is a professor. That's the good thing about today besides you Moriko." Amira throws the long empty bag in the trash can under her desk and slings on her backpack. Moriko hides inside it as Amira opens the door and heads downstairs.
"Oh honey! Get over here fast! hurry!" Amira's mother calls as she sees her coming down the stairs "Peta;burg Gym is on the news! Maybe we'll get to see dad!" Amira half runs over and looks at the TV.
A reporter stands in front of her father's new gym and says through the camera, "You heard this exclusive report on Petalburg Gym from channel 9."
"Oh we must have missed him honey. He probably was just on." She stares at the TV absentmindedly and rubs Amira's arm as if it was a horrible thing that her daughter couldn't see her father on TV although she has before.
"Its OK Mom, hey Dad said something about me meeting someone here in town" Amira says as if it's no big thing. "No he didn't" Moriko's voice rings out. "Go along with it." Amira thinks, hoping that she gets it.
"Ah, yes there is one of Dad's friends that live in town. I think his name was Professor Birch, but he's our new next door neighbor so why don't you go say hello?" " Amira's mom sits down at the table and sips her coffee and reads Home Maker Magazine.
Amira walks causally over to the house next door. The door is wide open probably because of the beautiful day out. "Anybody home?" Amira goes in and stand just inside the door, not wanting to intrude. The house looks a lot like her new one but kind of reflects it.
"Oh, hi may I ask whom you are?" A woman says snapping Amira from her daze.
Amira quickly answers, "I'm Norman's kid."
"Oh, yes! You must be this Amira I'm hearing about! I'm so glad we're neighbors now, we have a son close to your age." She smiles at her and shakes Amira's hand.
"Oh really? I think my dad said you had two kids, I wasn't sure their ages though." Amira meekly smiles.
"He was so excited about new friend."
"Cool, can't wait to meet him"
"He should be upstairs, your welcome to go up if you like."
Amira walk up the stairs and wall down the hallway to a door with a name tag that says "Brendan" on it. She walks in, not seeing anyone in, she stands there kind of awkward and sees a pokeball. As her fingers brush the pokeball, Its a mudkip, a small voice says in her mind and a male voice comes from behind her.
"Pokemon at full health... All items accounted for..." He looks up and notices Amira. "What?! What are you doing in you?"
Blushing "Oh, sorry, your mom sent me up to meet you. Well, hi."
"You must be Amira then, aren't you? You just moved here, right? I didn't realize that you'd be a girl."
Amira raises an eyebrow, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Dad, um, Professor Birch, mentioned that the neighbor is a gym leader, so I kinda assumed that his kid would be a guy."
'You know what they say when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me both' Amira says mentally.
"I'm sorry, I'm Brendan. Hello, I hope we get a long well."
"It's nice to meet you too, after all it must be so cool to have a pokemon professor as a dad, you must get to see all kinds of pokemon."
"What? Amira, haven't you got your first pokemon yet?"
"Nope. Dad doesn't have the time to go catch me one."
"I could go catch you one."
"That would be amazing!" And totally make up for that remark earlier.
"Shit, I'm sorry I forgot..."
"What is it?"
"I've gotta go catch some wild pokemon for my dad. Maybe another time?"
"Sure okay." Brendan goes to his desk and starts working on his computer.
Amira leaves, wandering till she see a sign for the Lab. She walks in, and says "Hey, would you happen to know where Professor Birch is? He's friends with my dad."
"What? Professor Birch? He's usually away in the field. So, he wouldn't be here." the lab tech says to her.
Awkward, "Um OK, so where is he?"
"No clue, but the man's know for his fieldwork. He'd rather see it then read it."
"Umm, thanks?" Your sure helpful, aren't you his student or something?
Amira wanders again, going towards the trees near her new house. Suddenly she sees a little girl standing there shaking. "Hey, you OK?"
"Big sister! I can heard shouts and growling. Could you check it for me? I don't have any pokemon," the little girl stares up at her with tears in her eyes.
"Sure kid. Everything will be alright." Amira heads out walking a short distance to see a man in a lab coat cornered by a zigzagoon.
"Damn, that must be Professor Birch, and you can't do much against that pokemon."
"I'm sorry"
"It's not your fault."
"Ahh! Somebody help me! Hey! Miss, please would you help me!"
"What am I supposed to do?! I don't have a pokemon!"
"My pokemon are in the bag!" he points at the bag between her and the pokemon.
Amira runs toward the bag, sliding next to it, sliding her hand in the bag. She quickly grabs the first pokeball she touches, Its a female torchic, the voice tells her again, and she lets the momentum from her slide pull her hand out of the bag. She quickly spins, hitting the zigzagoon on the head before the torchic comes out.
"Use scratch, aim for the eyes, then evade it's attack" the small torchic scratches one of the zigzagoon's eyes then dodges it's tackle. "One more scratch and it's out! You can do it!" the torchic scratches both of it's eyes and the zigzagoon faints.
"Oh my... I was studying some wild pokemon over there and then I got jumped. Good save. Thank you!"
"It's alright Professor, I'm Norman's kid, hi." Amira says in a warm voice.
"Ah? Then you're Amira! This place isn't very safe to talk, so why don't you head to my lab later?"
The Professor leaves and Amira looks at him till he's out of sight. "That man is so weird."
"I guess he is," Moriko says and then the two giggle and head to the lab.
Once at the lab Amira finds Professor Birch, "Amira, you dad just goes no about you, from how well you study to how much you helped at the last gym. I also heard that you have yet to get your first pokemon, but with the way you battled, I couldn't tell at all! The blood of your father's blood runs through your veins. You fight easily just like him."
"It's nothing, I'm just glad you're okay. Why did you want me to come to your lab?" Amira smiles happily, but still a little mad about being compared to her father.
"Yes. To thank you , I want you to keep the torchic you battled with. Why don't you give her a nickname?"
"I think I'll name her Staria. Thank you so much!" Amira beams and forgives him for comparing her to her father.
"If you really work with your pokemon and train hard, I'm sure that you will make a great trainer. Brendan, has been helping me study pokemon. Amira, why don't you go see him. It might be a good experience for you both don't you think?"
"That sounds great. I'd love to see him again."
"That's the spirit! Brendan will be happy as well. Brendan will teach you what being a trainer means!"
Amira leaves, appearing as calm as possible. Once she gets to the forest, she lets Staria out of her pokeball and Moriko leaves her backpack. "Can you believe him?! I know what it means to be a trainer! Ugh. I know let's show Brendan up! That way they won't think we're newbies k?"
"That sounds great, but I'm not sure how to battle, and it would be unfair to use me in a battle because I am still wild after all." Moriko says.
"That's okay. How about it, Staria, want to show them what a Torchic is made of?" Amira smiles at the ralts, and looks toward Staria with a wide grin.
"Hell yes Ami!" The three giggle and head off to the next town.
Me: ENDLESS HOURS OF TRANSCRIBING! I had to play the game, jot down what happened then redo it, so it took a while. Next time you play, your so gonna think of this story, aren't you? Lol. Some of these I actually think as I'm playing the game. I wonder, how many of you thought the same as you first played the game? Did you know, you only have a 12.5 chance of getting a female starter pokemon?! Now that's sexist, but I get it, male pokemon are stronger so they can protect their girlie-friend. But still, can't you raise it a bit higher? I always saved just before getting the pokemon so that I could start over if I didn't get a girl. Lol. If you want a guy, you shouldn't have problems or even tried this trick because you got tired of starting THE WHOLE GAME OVER. Lol. So many hours just doing that. OMGGG! This is the first time that I wanted to write a story and publish in the same day! XD Granted it is a bit short, but I think that's a perfect place to leave off. Loves Ya! If you like this story thank THEFareday, my boyfriend, *blows a kiss and winks at him* Lol. Please review and check out Pokemon Story Arc!
To CarpeDiemEveryday, I'm sorry you feel that way, I wanted to make it as if Amira was actually going through the game herself, that's the only reason I used the game's words instead of my own in the beginning. I hate using words that are not my own. They feel slimy in my mouth and I'd much rather speak using the words that flow from in me because, although my words and wording is odd, I love them. I like the way I speak. Words are just apart of me as my hair, organs, or my soul. I'm sorry if you did not like the story. Maybe it just isn't for you. Take a look at your words and see what they mean to you. The main reason I said anything about the chances of getting a female pokemon was because if the anime, movies and manga, you could catch them in the wild and it is just a eighth of a chance for you to get a girl pokemon. For gamers like me who like girl power, it is very hard to get get your all girl team. If you check the stats of a girl pokemon against her male counter-part at the same level, even on Emerald, there is a difference showing favor to males except in one or two stats. That is the testosterone world we live in. Though, I admit, men tend to be stronger physically than most women, but we have our strong points as well. That is why our species has survived so far. If this has appeased you 'Go to the black stone arc / knock three times on the air / whisper the words that the last heard / and pass through the door that isn't there.
