Us remaining 6 reunited again, save for one,
Grim faces we had worn, wishing what happened would come undone.
We cry aplenty in the reality of our fallen best friend.
Remembering like it really was yesterday,
How much he would go through, defending us all to no existent end.
Yet he left us, forcibly, dragged by devil-incarnate hands,
Why...our friend left, life deprived from him, too...is that which not one of us understands...

One severed fragment lay sticking out inches in front of the one whom wore goggles on his olive-colored cap. The glint made him well up even more. Leather fabrics of his gloves being clenched were feint among the sounds of remorse around them all.

"Why..?"

The one with short, burgundy-tinted hair traced the outline of the blade with his pupils; the curved motions that led up to the punctured wound, locking the shard in place. Dreadfully, he pulled away from the sight.

Trembling in where he stood, the shortest boy among them with the large, orange hat couldn't help the crying fit coming over him. Water gushing down the forearm he used to block the flow, spattering onto his sneakers, soaking the nape of his shirt...he knew he couldn't keep this up, yet...remembered whom the boy stood for...then, he pondered, lowering his arm from his face, the crying eased up for some time...

Beside him, lay a kneeling blond girl...the signature lavender toque off, now clutched in her hands, she resumed using it for a handkerchief. Taking moments to look away at the one before her...she couldn't help but release more sorrow into her sobs.

In the midst of the Digi-destined taking in what they see, a pair of deep, ultramarine pools observed the sight before him...looking down at the boy...the man, that...he barely knew. His...brother...his own brother, lay in front of him, impaled by the fears of letting the others die.

"K...K-K...K-...Kou—"He burst into a fresh set of tears. He just...couldn't.

He couldn't do that to himself, his best friends...no. He couldn't.

All that can be said; was. The feint glow from a device beside the boy lay on its back, smashed in chunks...released a tranquil ray of light that shone far above, vanishing before they all took notice. The purple clouds were thinning, being stretched open, fading to oblivion, as they once had been...exposing the clear blue of it all...

The sobs quieted. Heads turned up...looking at the last gift he gave to them.
