This is just a bit of silliness, slightly altering the words of "Oh Susanna" to make it Stargate-y. The original song is down the bottom if you want it. I know I mucked up some of the rhyming patterns of the original; if you think you can figure out a way to keep them you're welcome to write your own version.
P.S: if this has been done before, sorry. I've never seen it.
Disclaimer: Most of the words are original, and I make no claim on those and uncertain who they belong to, possibly Stephen Foster. The changes are mine but Stargate isn't, that belongs to MGM and Double Secret and all those other people.
Oh Samantha
by Bil!
I came from through the Stargate, armed to the teeth,
I'm going to the SGC, my true love for to see
It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry
The sun so hot I froze to death, Samantha don't you cry
Chorus
Oh! Samantha, oh don't you cry for me
For I'm coming through the Stargate and I'm armed to the teeth
I had a dream the other night, when ev'ry thing was still
I thought I saw Samantha a-coming down the hill
The MRE was in her mouth, the tear was in her eye
Says I, I'm coming back to Earth, Samantha don't you cry
Chorus
I soon will be in the SGC, and then I'll look around
And when I find Samantha I'll fall upon the ground
But if I do not find her, this soldier'll surely die
And when I'm dead and buried, Samantha don't you cry
Chorus
And the original song:
Oh Susanna
I came from Alabama wid my banjo on my knee
I'm goin' to Lousiana, my true love for to see
It rained all night de day I left, de weather it was dry
De sun so hot I froze to death, Susanna don't you cry.
Chorus
Oh! Susanna, oh don't you cry for me
For I'm goin' to Lousiana wid my banjo on my knee.
(Some versions have "I've come from Alabama, wid my banjo on my knee." for the last line)
I had a dream de odder night, when ev'ry thing was still
I thought I saw Susanna a-comin' down de hill
De buckwheat cake was in her mouth, de tear was in her eye
Says I, I'm comin' from de South, Susanna don't you cry.
Chorus
I soon will be in New Orleans, and den I'll look all 'round
And when I find Susanna I'll fall upon de ground
But if I do not find her, dis darkie'll surely die
And when I'm dead and buried, Susanna don't your cry.
Chorus
(I think there's at least one other verse in some versions, but these are all the verses that I know.)
