Not-So-Funny-Husband

"Hey Jackie, I picked up your ring for you after work today." Nick told his wife.

He had taken it in to get it sized back to her normal size because she'd increased it when she was pregnant so she could still wear it.

"Thanks babe." She said with a smile. He handed her a small ring box.

"That was nice of them to put it in a cute little box." She said.

"Yeah, I thought so too." He replied.

She opened the box and her mouth dropped open. Inside the box there was a ring with a gigantic diamond in the middle and several smaller diamonds on the sides of that one, she had never seen this ring before.

"What is this? This isn't my ring." She said.

"Yeah, I know. I know you said you didn't want a bigger diamond or a different ring but I saw this one and I couldn't resist, surprise." He said with a genuine smile.

"Nick, I thought I was adamant about not wanting a bigger diamond or a different ring. Thank you for trying but I want my original one back, I'll wear this one on a different finger if you feel so strongly about it but I want my other one back."

"Honey I'm sorry but I won't be able to get your other one back." He said.

"What, why not?" she asked sounding panicked.

"I traded your original one in for this one, they gave me a good price on it and I wouldn't have been able to afford the new one without the trade in."

"What the hell did you do?" she screamed as her voice cracked and tears welled in her eyes.

"Listen, I didn't know you felt that strongly about it, but since you do, here you go." He said with a grin as he pulled out another ring box.

She grabbed it from him and opened it. She sighed in relief, inside that box was her real ring. She grabbed the ring and happily put it on, but she was still confused.

"What is going on here?" she asked her husband.

He grinned at her like the cat that had just eaten the canary.

"I was totally just messing with you. The new ring is a fake, I paid just under 7 dollars for it at the store down the street. You should have seen the look on your face, that was seven dollars extremely well spent if I do say so myself." He said still grinning at her.

"You'll think it's funny when you're sleeping on the couch tonight." Jackie said as she turned and walked away from them.

That night as he was tossing and turning, trying to get to sleep he realized something he hadn't before, their couch was not at all comfortable.

The End! I know this is short but I thought it was funny! If you're wondering I am going to post a follow up to my story bigger isn't always better, I will do that on Christmas day. I might also post a story along the same lines of my other story called fun in a box!

Thanks again for all the story ideas! If you think of more please let me know, and please don't forget to leave a review!
