Samurai Rescue Mission

Part I: The Silver Haired Assassin

A few months had passed since Maka, Soul and their friends defeated Asura (Anime Version). Mifune and Angela have even been living at the DWMA. Angela's been enrolled as a new student while Mifune became a teacher to help the more….troubling students like Black Star. The school and city were even rebuilt, peace was finally there.

But suddenly one morning Angela woke up to find Mifune missing. Worried about her missing guardian, she leaves the protection of the DWMA building and races to the woods hoping to see if he was just training with Black Star like he usually does whenever the kid needs punishment.

She was already by a large stairway when she noticed that she couldn't hear Black Star's new chanting: "I'm the greatest assassin in the world" or even his new: "I've surpassed God". She didn't really care about it but she did kinda like his spunk. She was still just a kid but she appreciated him and Tsubaki vouching for her and Mifune. Strangely though he's actually been more quiet since the massive fight, maybe he was finally calming down for once.

"MIFUNE!" Angela shouted, hoping to hear her friend's voice. Suddenly she noticed Tsubaki walking towards her as she was shouting Mifune's name.

"Is everything okay Angela?" Tsubaki asked in her usual kind manner.

"Have you seen Mifune this morning?" Angela asked but was saddened when Tsubaki shook her head.

"I'm sorry Angela," Tsubaki said. "I haven't seen him, maybe he's with Black Star." But before she could say anything else, they could hear Black Star shouting.

"OH YEAH, BLACK STAR IS BACK!" Black Star shouted while Tsubaki sighed.

"Oh please Black Star, not again," Tsubaki said softly. The big idiot ran past them with Tsubaki following behind him. She couldn't help but sigh too, he really hasn't changed too much. He did change a lot but he's still a loud mouthed idiot.

Without another word she walked down the steps just as Maka and Soul were walking up them talking to themselves about completely distracted to notice her. She remembered that Liz and Patty were with Kid and Crona was still in school reading a few books. Stein was probably dissecting some poor animal and Spirit hasn't been seen around his usual spots; ever since Asura's defeat he's actually been trying to straighten himself out so Maka can have the father she deserves.

Once she made it into the woods she took to notice how quiet everything was. Things around the DWMA have been so noisy lately, she was just happy to have some peace. She wandered around aimlessly until she found a nice lone stump to sit down and see if Mifune shows up. She thought about taking some time to practice her magic but all in all she was just too lazy.

But then suddenly the sound of bushes rustling startled her. She jumped up and was about to cast when suddenly a large goblin appeared behind her as a jagged blade touched her throat. The goblin was twice as tall as her with dark oily green skin that gave off a foul odor that smell rotten. It wore light brown torn up and dirty short and a dark grey stinky old t-shirt with old bloodstains all around it. It had webbed feet with gnarly long black nails while its hands had only three digits and a thumb but only the right hand was missing half a pinky. Its face had a long muzzle with sharp yellow teeth. Its ears were shaped like elven ears but had small pieces missing out of the tips. Its eyes were bright yellow that had this hunger for human flesh.

Angela quickly covered her nose as the smell was just too awful to bear. Out from the bushes appeared twenty more goblins only five inches shorter and each bore random kinds of sharp yet ugly looking weapons.

"Look at this, I got a witch in my clutches," said the goblin as the others cheered. "And she's a young one too so she won't put up much of a fight." It was the worst time for her to forget to bring her broomstick, just thinking is it back at their apartment made her feel stupid.

"This one looks really tasty," said one of the creatures. The group of goblins stepped aside as a much larger goblin appeared. He was about eight inches taller than the goblin who had Angela. His spin was a darker shade of green than the others and he had large bulging shoulder muscles. It wore dark grey trousers that were stained by God knows what with no shirt at all. "You did well Doma, my thanks to you." One of the other goblins appeared holding a large blood stained machete. The large goblin took it with his left hand and held the blade against Angela's throat. Angela, completely terrified to what was about to happen to her prayed for Mifune to save her. "Just one witch's soul is all we need and then we'll become the most powerful clan in the world." The goblins around them started to gather closer with watering jaws. The stench of rot fouled the air enough that it could rot the trees away. "Keep that little mouth of yours shut and I'll give you the courtesy of dying quickly. If not….well, you can imagine hehehe." The others started to laugh as their leader looked her dead in the eyes.

The goblin leader pulled the machete away from her throat and held it high above his head. Angela tried to kick in the balls but he was just too tall and far for her foot to connect. As she tried to fight, a few of the other goblins pushed her to the ground and pinned her limbs down while Doma held her head outstretched to reveal her neck.

"She's all yours boss," Doma said to the leader.

"Good work, now hold her still," the leader praised his faithful servant. Afraid to die, all she could do now was shout one more time.

"MIFUNE!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

"DIE!" the goblin leader shouted as he swung the massive machete down on her.

Suddenly a large sword flew in out of nowhere like an arrow and struck the leader through from behind. The sword was a five foot long two handled purple bladed greatsword that struck into the creature and slid through its foul smelling body with ease. But as the guard hit the body, the force was still so strong that it practically launched him off his feet and sent him flying towards a tree. The tip of the blade struck into the tree with enough force that it shook the tree and pinned the monster.

Everyone including Angela was startled by what just happened. They couldn't even tell where his machete flew off too nor where the large sword came from. They could only watch in horror as their leader's body exploded, revealing nothing more than a red Kishin egg.

Suddenly a small explosion erupted behind them followed by a large cloud of smoke that completely engulfed them all. The smoke was so thick that they couldn't even their own hands. Angela quickly closed her eyes and started coughing while the goblins who restrained her except for Doma let her go and readied their weapons.

Suddenly a strange figure garbed in white sped through the group, cutting down any goblin in his way. The ones that were alive were in a panic as they were forced to listen to the sound of metal slicing through flesh and their comrades screaming before being silenced by the man's blade.

Doma picked Angela up and held the knife to her throat as the air went silent. The cloud of smoke started to dissipate. Doma looked on in horror as all his friends had been killed, leaving nothing but their red kishin eggs behind. In a state of sheer panic, Doma jerked his head around trying to find whoever was responsible. But he saw no man, only thing he recognized was the sword still stuck in the tree that ended their boss's life.

"Show yourself or I'll kill the girl," Doma demanded, trying to sound fierce but couldn't hide the terror in his tone. With the knife shaking in his hand, the figure appeared behind him and held a seven inch long black assassin knife over the goblins exposed throat. He wasn't holding it as it appeared to be protruding out of his left coat sleeve. Doma could feel the slightly warm metal blade pressed against his throat as he was just three seconds away from wetting himself.

"Hurt the girl and your life will end without a whimper," the man calmly threatened.

"You wouldn't dare," Doma said in a mocking tone.

"I've dared more times than you'd imagine," said the man. "Let her go and I'll spare your life, simple as that." The goblin knew that he didn't have any choice as his grip on Angela started to loosen. She bit his arm which he quickly pulled his arm away in retaliation. She got free and ran off. The man smiled as the blade protruding from his sleeve slowly began to retract. "Thank you, now you may leave."

Doma hissed that he lost his little witch. His eyes now burning with intense hatred as he spun around and tried to stab the man in the gut. But before the tip of his knife could make contact, a brown gloved left hand grabbed the creature's wrist, stopping the knife. With his also gloved right hand, he grabbed the creature by the throat and put him on his back as the man stared dead into his eyes.

He grabbed the knife and tossed it aside as the black assassin blade sprang of his sleeve again.

"Screw you!" was Doma's last words.

"Forgive me," the man said in a somewhat saddened tone as he thrust the blade into Doma's eye. He didn't even scream, he was dead instantly. Doma exploded, leaving behind a red kishin egg.

The man stood up as the black assassin blade retracted back into his sleeve again. He looked around and found Angela hiding behind the bushes. Her body was shaking in fear as the man proceeded to walk towards her. She tried to hide hoping that he would just walk away since she couldn't see him that well. But once he was close enough he crouched down at the other side of the bush and looked at her.

"It's okay to come out, you're safe now," the man reassured her. Angela poked her head out and looked at the man. He was about the same height as Mifune and he looked pretty well built.

He wore a long white coat adorned with velvet laced edging and brown wooden buttons adorned with small tan tassels on his shoulders, around his collar, and waistline. Because of her shortness Angela noticed that the man was wearing blue jeans with the ends stuffed inside his brown hiking books. The first four buttons on the top of his coat were undone, revealing a silver chain around the man's neck.

The man's face appeared fierce like a beast with eyes of emerald green color. His face was smooth and well-groomed with a strong chin and slightly raised cheekbones. His ears appeared somewhat human as the tips were slightly longer and in a sharp point. Finally his hair was the strangest part about him, reaching all the way down to his waist with silver locks that glimmered in the moonlight.

The man didn't speak until he noticed that Angela was missing something.

"I think you lost something," the man spoke plainly as he reached with his left hand over the bush and grabbed to her surprise: her hat. She didn't realize it but her hat got snagged on the bush when she was hiding. The man gently lifted the hat out of the bush and kindly placed the strange witch's hat onto her head. After that her pulled his hand away and smiled. "That's better, it looks nice on you. Are you okay?" Confused by the man's sudden kindness towards her, she couldn't help but be polite to him.

"I'm okay, thank you," she said simply. The man nodded with his head. Angela looked around and saw the kishin eggs still hovering around them. "Whoa, that was cool!" The man couldn't help but smile with appreciation as he walked over towards where his sword landed.

The man grabbed hold of the foot long black dyed leather grip of the handle with his right hand. The blade was a strange vibrant color of purple about two inches wide with double edges and a triangular tip. The guard was an inch thick and expanded three inches in a rectangular shape from both sides, rounded ends and colored ebony black. The guard was engraved with wolves attacking their prey at each end on both sides of the heavy guard. Each head led from the end of the guard and as you'd move towards the center, you'd noticed the hind legs blending together in a swirling pattern which appeared to be swirling towards a small green circle gemstone. Last but not least the pommel was shaped like a black ring that held a slightly larger green gemstone securely without risk of it falling off in a skirmish.

With a single tug of his arm, he pulled the massive sword out and placed it on his back like Dante from Devil May Cry. A strange glyph appeared over the blade of the sword for a split second before disappearing. The blade was somehow stuck to his back as he turned around to face her. The blade occasionally moved as he walked but never left his backside. Angela couldn't tell how he was doing it but was impressed none the less.

"It's no problem, but I'm more worried about why you're here all alone, don't you have any parents?" the man asked in concern for her wellbeing. When Angela shook her head no he felt sad for her. "What about this Mifune guy, I heard you scream his name as I was passing by?"

"He's my guardian, I'm a witch but I'm still just a little kid," Angela said to the man who looked at her with worry. "Have you seen a man who carries a bunch of swords with him?"

"I'm sorry I haven't," the man said with regret that he didn't have better news for her. "Do you have a place to stay?"

"Yeah, I live at the DWMA," she answered him but he had no idea what that was.

"Uh….DWMA?" the confused man asked.

"It's a school in Death City," Angela told him as she pointed in the direction of the academy. The man looked up above the trees and noticed the school in the distance.

"It doesn't look too far," the man said with a smile as he looked back down at Angela. "But I'd think it'd be better if I escort you there, I wouldn't feel good about myself letting a little kid walk by herself when there's probably monsters about. Would you be okay with that?" She looked down at the ground in disappointment that she couldn't find Mifune. She still wanted to look but she knew that the man was right, she's not really able to defend herself that well and having monsters about trying to collect her soul frightened her. "I'm Riacon by the way, what's yours?"

"Angela," she said, sounding sad. "Thank you, I bet everyone's worried about me."

The man reached his hand out to grab but she just looked down at the ground and walked with him. He felt bad that this Mifune guy wasn't around, she seemed like she really liked him. He didn't want to make any rash judgement decisions because he just met her but he felt like it'd be best to get her to the DWMA and then leave without causing a ruckus.

They managed to get to the Academy as Kid and Black Star were waiting for them. When Riacon appeared with Angela, Kid was relieved to see that she was okay while Black Star was wondering who the man was.
