A/N: Just thought of this plot on the spot. Hiei would be a kickass exterminator, in my opinion~ |D

"Fear is the lengthened shadow of ignorance." - Unknown

Loud flurries of screams echoed through the house, startling Yusuke and Kurama. Hurrying from their rooms, they rushed into the kitchen, where their friend Alexa, also known as Lexi, was standing on a chair and shaking tremendously.

"Alexa, what's wrong?" Kurama asked, worried that she might have hurt herself.

The teary-eyed, dark-skinned girl shook on her chair as she pointed a finger to the right. Following her finger, the redhead and Yusuke noticed a brown spider standing in the corner.

Yusuke and Kurama were quiet and stared back at the megane.

"A spider?"

Lexi nodded, comedic tears spilling out of her glasses-covered eyes. "I don't know how it got in here! Please! I beg you to kill it! Or at least throw it out!"

Kurama sweat-dropped at the girl as he tried to calm her down. "Alexa, there's nothing to worry-"

"I hate spiders!" she screamed, crying even more. "They're icky and gross! Please kill it!"

Yusuke frowned, obviously not impressed. "Come on, Lex! It's a frickin' spider!" The noise startled the arachnid, making it crawl further from the corner it came from. Lexi screamed even louder as she clutched onto the chair, almost breaking it.

"PLEASE! SOMEBODY KILL GET RID OF IT!"

Kuwabara soon made his way into the room after hearing the commotion. He stepped back when he saw the spider crawling around the kitchen floor. "Holy crap! That's a big spider!"

The Spirit Detective rolled his eyes. "Yeah, and Lexi doesn't wanna kill it. She's too chicken."

Lexi whimpered as she hid behind the chair, shaking her head. "No... It's scary. I mean, just look at it! It has too many eyes. And it's huge on top of that!"

Looking back at the insect, it did look bigger than most house spiders. Lexi was right about the eyes - all eight of them scanned the room and at the four teens staring down at it. Yusuke shuddered and Kuwabara glared at him.

"Urameshi, why don't you kill it?" he asked. "Can't you see that she's scared?"

"Oh, please!" Yusuke answered. "Like I'm gonna touch it! Kurama, why don't you do it?"

The redhead sighed as he looked around for a platform to lift it, Lexi still standing on the chair in terror. Kuwabara and Yusuke continued to argue, which eventually led to a physical spat. They all stopped when they saw the last boy Hiei standing at the door, his expression a lot more sour than usual.

"What is the reason for all this noise?" he growled. "I can't sleep in peace."

Immediately, Lexi pointed towards the spider that was trying to escape the kitchen. Hiei watched it with his eyes, his frown growing deeper.

"You're screaming because of an insect?"

Kuwabara scoffed. "Well, it's Urameshi's fault for not being a real man and killing it."

"What was that, doofus?"

They started bickering once again and Kurama slapped his forehead. "Alexa's severe arachnophobia is preventing her from killing it so I'm doing it instead," he mumbled.

Hiei narrowed his eyes as he passed by the redhead, squishing the spider with his foot. "This is pitiful. I can't believe I woke up for something this trivial."

Everyone gawked at the short demon as he exited the house and went back outside, jumping back on his sleeping tree after wiping his shoe of the spider guts outside. He fell back asleep as the house returned to silence.

"Jeez..."
