Dual Torment

Sam always knew when one started. It started with a flinch. Or two. Or three. That was the only thing that varied—the number of flinches. That was followed by raspy moaning and hitched breathing. Next his limbs jerked, twitching violently before he began to all out thrash. But it was the shiny wet tears trailing down his temples rapidly soaking into the pillow that overwhelmed Sam every night.
The younger Winchester stood at the foot of Dean's bed, watching as the nightmares again consumed his big brother, his own eyes filled with tears.
God, Dean, what can I do?
