Chapter 1

Arizona's POV

I tapped my foot anxiously as I waited for Anthony to show up. He was past fifteen minutes late and I was getting ready to leave when I heard someone call my name from behind.

"Arizona, hey." Anthony said as he jogged up to me.

"You're late." I said in a sarcastic tone.

"I'm sorry I had to…" I cut him off before he could finish his sentence, "Yeah, yeah. Do you have it?"

"It's right here." he said as he retrieved a small ziplock bag from his pocket.

"Thanks." I mumbled as I handed him a hundred dollar bill. Just the thought of taking the small, white pills made my body fill with relief.

"Be careful okay." Anthony told me quietly.

"You're my drug dealer, not my father." I said angrily as I walked down the street and left him in the distance.

I found my way to a park and sat under a tree. I started to think of my brother and began to cry… It seems as though that was all I did lately. I let my memories of him dance and wrap themselves around my brain before I took three of the pills out of the bag. I brought the bottle of Tequila to my lips and swallowed the pills. I felt the sweet numbness weave itself through my veins and I sank down onto the grass. I lay there, numb, still, before looking back over at the bag that still contained around seven pills. What the hell…I've got nothing to lose.

Callie's POV

I jumped as I heard my pager going off. It was almost two o'clock in the morning and I was beyond tired. I ran my hands through my hair as I left the on call room towards the hospital's emergency entrance.

I bit my nails as I waited for the ambulance to arrive. I smiled as my fellow intern, Derek Shepherd, walked up next to me. He was about to say something when the familiar sound of sirens interrupted him. I jogged towards the ambulance as the paramedic briefed me on the patient but all I could focus on were the patient's beautiful cobalt eyes and the tears that were pooled in them. I never believed in love at first sight, but this was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my entire existence, and I would be damned if the new belief that love at first sight exists was taken away from me.
