A/N: Oh, and there's this one too. I've actually had this one ready for a while, it just didn't occur to me to post it until now. Have you ever noticed that Ciel never explicitly states that Sebastian is named after his dog? Frankly, I find it fairly unlikely, no matter how much he loved his dog.

Summary: Sebastian thinks he's named after Ciel's old dog. Ciel is fine with that.
Disclaimer: Sadly, Black Butler is not mine.
Sebastian thought that he had been named after their family's dog. That was fine with Ciel. He could think that all he wanted, Ciel really didn't care. What mattered was who he had really been named after.
Because he hadn't been named after the family dog. He had been named for a man Ciel had known; a kind man. One in a million.
Because for one precious week, he hadn't been alone in the cage. He had had a friend. An ally. A light in the dark.
The man had smiled at him. Ciel's eyes had widened in genuine wonder as the man crouched outside the cage, held a hand out to him. None of them ever wanted to touch him; he was unclean. But this man... this man did.
"Hello," he had said. "My name is Sebastian, little one."
Ciel had stared in wonder. The man liked him. Why did the man like him, of all the people here? Finally, he took the man's hand and shook it lightly. "Hello, Sebastian. My name is Ciel." He gave the man a small smile.
The man smiled back at him, wider than before. "Hello, Ciel."
And he had left. But he had returned the next day, and this time, he had something with him.
The man had slipped him an extra piece of bread, and Ciel's eyes had widened in wonder, and he stared at the man with wide, grateful eyes. "It'll be our little secret, Ciel," the man whispered. He winked.
Ciel beamed at him. Thank you! He had mouthed. The man nodded and him and hurried off.
And it proceeded like that, every day, for the entire two months. Sebastian would sneak him something extra to eat, occasionally even something sweet, he would smile, and the man would scurry off, or, once in a while, play a game with him, cheer him up, comfort him. Sometimes he would even heal him a little, reaching through the bars of the cage to rub something onto his cuts and bruises and welts that made them stop hurting. A light in the dark of his life.
But one day, something happened. Ciel didn't know exactly what, but Sebastian didn't come. The others said he had left. But Ciel knew better.
They had found out, somehow. He had never told - known it would never be condoned, known that there would be consequences. But they had still found out. And Sebastian had been punished.
The man had helped him… and paid for it.
Ciel shied away from anyone else who tried to come close, until another light came, one that was black with sin, but one that couldn't be snuffed out, not by anything. And that second light had been named after the first one.
Sebastian was named after someone so much more important than a dog.
Yeah, I'm taking a lot of liberties here... but hey. I do that. And don't get mad at me, now, I already had this. I just remembered I had it and put it up. Hope you like it. Please review!
