"He checked into the hotel about a week ago. He stuck out in my mind because of his odd posture and vacant stare. It was hard to not stare at him." I shifted in my seat. Despite the fact that my interviewer was my younger sister, these were still pretty personal questions. I felt odd telling anyone about him.
"So, what happened after that?" My sister looked up at me, her big blue eyes wide. "Did you do anything to let him know you liked him?"
I sighed wistfully. "I spied on him. Don't look at me like that! I couldn't help it! He was so ...different than the others."
"So... the thing that attracted you was his... uniqueness?"
"Yes. He was so... intoxicating... I planned to stop after a day or two, but realized I ...couldn't."
"You're in love," she said to me.
I smiled. "I wouldn't quite say that..."
*flashback start*
"I know you've been watching me," he said, slouching over the desk. His vacant stare bored holes into my skull. What could I do? What could I say?
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"You've been spying on me. You put cameras in my hotel room," he repeated.
I looked at the floor, blushing. "How long have you known?"
"Since the first day."
"But..." I looked up. "Why didn't you disable the cameras?"
He simply smiled. That was the last I saw of him.
*flashback end*
"She got fired the next day for sleeping on the job." L smiled slightly, popping the next marshmallow into his mouth. "But she was pretty, and the first woman to have an interest in me."
"And let you know about it," Misa said.
L's eyes widened. "There were more?"
Misa rolled her eyes. "Probably! But I bet you were so engrossed in your work that you never noticed."
L thought for a moment. "You may be right."
