The Victorious
Author's note: This fan fiction was given as a challenge by StarWonder09, and I dedicate it to her because she made me do it.
Okay, here is the challenge: What would have happened if Raven had lost to Trigon? The only rule was to keep it at the T rating.
My notes: This takes place as soon as Raven has changed back to her eighteen year old self in the End part three (I made her eighteen, no idea what her age really is). And I'm not using direct quotes. Oh, and Robin's point of view.
Summary: This is it, the last battle with Trigon. Can she do it; can Raven overcome her dark destiny? One shot.
The Victorious
"Raven!" I called, she was suddenly older, it was a miracle.
"Azarath Metrion Xinthos!" she cried and a white light blasted through the air. The raw energy sliced through the air. When the smoke cleared, Trigon was still standing, still there.
My heart sank, maybe Raven wasn't strong enough alone, but with us to help her we could overcome it! I motioned to the others and we gathered behind her, linking our hands and I placed one of mine on her shoulder. She looked at me and smiled. But that smile was short lived. Trigon simply reached down and picked up Starfire as if she was a rag doll. Star protested, she yelled, but she didn't have any energy left to fight. I couldn't bear to watch, so I threw my last grenade at Trigon, hoping it would make him drop her. It didn't do a thing. There was a sickening crack, one that I had heard before. One that I never wanted to hear again. Starfire landed on the ground at Raven's feet. Her neck broken, her body broken, Starfire's fire was extinguished. I wanted to cry out, but my heart was ripped in two and I didn't trust myself to speak.
Trigon was reaching towards us again, this time he picked up Cyborg and Beastboy. I searched my belt for anything to help, but nothing was left. I had expended my stores. And by the look of Raven's body slumped over Starfire's I knew that Raven had no energy left. My hope was slowly dying. Cyborg and Beastboy landed a few feet in front of Starfire. I couldn't look at them. I couldn't do a thing. And now Trigon was reaching for me. Maybe it would be better this way. Who knew what existed on the other side of life?
And now Trigon reached for me. Why wasn't Raven doing anything? I know she is more fragile than I am, but she's also strong. Trigon picked me up by my cloak. He hung me in the air so I was facing the ground.
"Raven!" I called, hoping that she would try something. Anything would do. Anything to prove she was still fighting, like I was. I was wriggling in his grip, but it was too strong.
"You know, you Titans were so easy to fool," I heard, "First you let Terra step all over you, and you fell for my trap. It was simple, was it not? Just stringing you all along to believe that I was your friend."
What was she saying? My mind was racing, what was she talking about?
"You were the most gullible of all, thinking that you could stop destiny. What a foolish, foolish boy," Raven said to me, her normally calm face was ravaged by a sick grin.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I'm not really your friend, I used you, just like Terra. I used you to make me strong enough to come back after Trigon used me to make the portal. I'm only telling you this so that I can have the satisfaction of seeing you look so pathetic," Raven sneered. She made a hand motion to her father. She grinned wickedly.
The End of All Things.
