I Can't Sing a Love Song...

Draco ran his hand over her bloody face. Her bright hazel eyes, dulled with pain met his. She managed a smile, the dried blood on her cheek cracking and falling away. His breath was coming harder and harder as he examined the damage to her upper torso.

She would die. There was no way he could get her to help in time. He didn't know enough to save her. He reached towards the raw wounds but pulled back before he touched them. She winced as he lifted her into his lap, cradling her head in his arm.

"Ginny..."

She smiled sadly. She had accepted it. He couldn't. There was so much to be done. So much left to live for. So much time he could have had with her. His hands shook and tears threatened.

"Draco, will you sing for me?" She asked quietly.

Tears welled in his eyes. "I... I'm sorry Ginny. I can't sing."

Her smile faded and she looked away.

He watched the life slowly leak from his love. He couldn't stand it.

"This romeo is bleeding..." He began haltingly.

She looked back at him, her eyes wide.

"But you can't see his blood." He wiped some more blood from her beautiful face.

"It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up."

He sniffed back a tear and kissed her forehead.

"It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood."

She lifted her hand to his face. He didn't notice as her fingers left bloody prints there.

"You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up."

He slid his hand under her neck and supported her head as he kissed her gently, his tears mixing with hers.

"I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore
But baby, that's just me."

She smiled softly. "You're doing fine." She whispered.

"And I will love you, baby - Always
And I'll be there forever and a day - Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
Till the heavens burst and
The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you - Always."

Ginny cleared her throat and joined in softly.

"Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life
Some that made us laugh, some that made us cry."

He touched her lips to silence her. He looked at her bloody torso.

"One that made you have to say goodbye."

He touched her hair with his fingers and bit back a sob.

"What I'd give to run my fingers through your hair
To touch your lips, to hold you near
When you say your prayers try to understand
I've made mistakes, I'm just a man."

He leaned close. "My biggest mistake was not telling you sooner. Years were wasted."

She shushed him. "What's done is done. I regret none of it."

"When he holds you close, when he pulls you near
When he says the words you've been needing to hear
I'll wish I was him 'cause those words are mine
To say to you till the end of time."

"Don't leave me Ginny!" He sobbed as her eyes closed.
