The paper gave off an eerie glow as it contrasted so abruptly with the rich darkness of the mahogany table it lay upon. Paper had always been her friend, a comforting source where she could pour her heart and soul out and not have to worry about being ridiculed for her outlandish thoughts and ideas on the world as she watched it pass by. Now it lay, mocking her for the absurd trust she held in it.
She looked up from her work space and to the window that framed the courtyard below where shined lights of reds, yellows, greens, and blues that twinkled in the fading light. Dusk was approaching and she had an appointment to keep. After a few more moments of mindless staring out the frosted window, she looked back down at the stark blankness that stared back at her.
'If I'd have known it was going to be this hard, I would have never gotten myself into it,' she thought to herself sullenly.
She had fifteen minutes to meet her parents at the restaurant to finalize the plans. Dropping the pen she was holding, she pushed away from the desk and resolved to finish them later.
Grabbing her black petticoat form the hook adjacent the front door, she jumped into her car where her breath came out in puffs like smoke. Moments later she was walking into the front door of one of her favorite restaurants. Her parents stood from a back booth and waved their hands high over their heads. Dodging all the others crowding around the tables, she weaved her way back to them, wrapping each in a tight hug.
"Hey honey, how's everything going?" her father asked as they seated themselves again.
"Same as the last time you asked four days ago," she heaved a sigh. "I just don't know what it is. I can't think straight to write anything. I mean, this is something that's going to be remembered, it has to be good. It had to be great."
"Sweetie, let me give you a little advice. Life is beautiful and it just gets more beautiful when you know you have something that will change your life for the better. Just think about that and I'm sure you'll come up with something amazing," her mother said with a smile.
"Thanks mom. Now let's order, I'm starving."
An hour and a half later, she was walking back into her house and hanging walking back into her house and hanging her coat where it had previously been. She marched over to the desk, grabbed the pen, and fervently began to write.
Hermione Granger, soon to be Hermione Malfoy, had the perfect idea for her wedding vows. "Life is beautiful," she wrote, "and when you find that someone special to spend the rest of your life with, it's even more beautiful, and that's what you've shown me Draco, a world filled with love. A world that I will never turn away from and that's my pledge to you today." 'Perfect,' she thought.
