Shadow Heart
Anti-Sora's Story
By: EverlastingOblivion
I was never considered 'important' by anyone. I was just a shadow of a person…. literally. I followed him everywhere he went, did what ever he did. I was a good, obedient little shadow. It wasn't like I had a choice back then.
I was jealous of him in all truth. He roamed the world, totally free from all bonds. He lived in the world of light. And me? I was just a shadow, forced to do whatever his whim was.
But there were advantages to being me. I was part of Sora's conscience, the dark part. Like in the cartoons, the little devil that sits on a person's shoulder and whispers for them to do bad things. That was me…not that he ever listened. He was a good kid, and it pissed me off to no end.
One day he was sitting on the beach, me next to him doing the same when he dropped off into sleep. I took the opportunity to go inside his head and see what he was dreaming. The kid always had interesting, but naive dreams. He thought he'd be a hero, an explorer. What a joke. Or at least I thought to at the time.
This was by far the strangest dream I had ever witnessed though. Three weapons hovered on pedestals, Sora walking in between them, trying to pick one. He wrapped his hand around a sword and lifted it up. It disappeared and then he looked to pick another one. He wandered over to the staff. It disappeared to, and then the sword reappeared in his hand.
In the dream he wondered through this weird dream world when strange creatures appeared. They started off as shadows but then rose up off the ground and became real. I wished so much to be like them. I tried to pry myself off the ground but I was stuck there…and I always would be.
" The closer you are to the light, the longer your shadow becomes" a voice echoed through out the dream world. I herd a voice whispering to me " your whish is granted." His voice was dark, sending chills through me. But then I found something marvelous happening, I was being pulled up off the ground. I felt power coursing through me and I looked down at Sora, now smaller than me. ' Who's under whose feet now?' I thought, attempting to crush him.
He tried to fight me with his pathetic sword weapon. And while it was quite an annoyance it proved little harm. He began retreating to the edge of the platform, about to fall off. He took another step back, tendrils of darkness wrapping around him. And then…
He woke up.
Well I was pissed.
It had seemed so real…or maybe that was just me wanting it to be real.
More than anything, I wanted to be real…not just a shadow.
Back then…I had no clue the adventure that dream was going to send me out on.
