Seeding Earth had been a mistake. The Engineers realized that now.
The people of Earth had never gotten over their thirst for blood. They had become a species with a talent for starting wars, but little for ending them.
Seeing their folly, the Engineers knew what they had to do. They would crush the seeds of destruction before they could take root.
Unless the spark of life was extinguished from Earth, it seemed inevitable that humankind would soon follow the path of the Engineers' most monstrous creation.
A cursed world, now feared, reviled, and lamented across the whole universe.

Author's note: It seems that some readers are under the impression that this story contradicts Genesis of the Daleks. That is not the intention. I am not implying that the Engineers created the Daleks directly, but rather that they began the first life on Skaro, that eventually evolved into the Thals and Kaleds, the latter of whom then created the Daleks.
