Although he hated to admit it, Harry was quite good at magniloquent speeches. It was probably why he was giving yet another one.
He sighed. There were times he enjoyed giving the speech. Interesting topics or impressionable people he could mould with his words.
He snorted. That was his husband's influence.
He checked his calendar to see what he would be giving a speech on. It was to the Ministry on the need for legalizing and making it easier to obtain Class-B and below potions ingredients. Something he believed in. Severus' influence again.
He on to the stage and looked down at three-quarters of the Ministry. The Minister himself would be introducing Harry. Of course. Harry was a war-hero, a decorated veteran, a wonderful public speaker. It would be an insult for anyone else to introduce him.
Harry hid a smirk. Even Severus was in the crowd. Severus often didn't attend Harry's speeches, but apparently this promised to be interesting enough to go.
After the Minister's uninspiring and interminable speech, Harry began his.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I entreat you to luxuriate in tonight's nocturnal rhetoric regarding the necessity of the legalization and facilitation of the procurement of Class-B and lower level potions ingredients. It is indubitably comprehensible that most employees here do not discern the need present. Permit me a little history, then. As the Minister was kind enough to state, I am a veteran of the war against Voldemort. My husband lays a similar claim to honor. He is a Potions Master, and one of his tribulations was the manufacture of healing potions. Opossum bile is a common enough ingredient in some of these potions, yet it is a Class-B ingredient, making it difficult to get in stock. Had he not been as ingenious in solving the problem as he was, many people on side would be dead. I can thank him for my life, for it was his potion that saved it. So can Albus Dumbledore and the Minister."
Harry paused. "I understand that often my speeches are rather bombastic. I know that often it is that which draws people to them, for hopes of hearing in colorful language that which they want reaffirmed. Perhaps they want to change someone's mind. But now I must speak as simply and understandably as possible. My message today is too important to get lost amongst nuances of language. It is essential that you vote today to repeal the strict laws against these ingredients. The laws are in place because of the hack Potions Masters during Voldemort's time. Today, the Ministry grants only a license to those who have registered with the Potions Masters' Guild. Make anyone who wants to procure those ingredients do so with a license. But don't prohibit it. As I've demonstrated, lives count on it."
He cleared his throat. "Thank you for your time today. Do the right thing."
In private, he asked Severus, "So, what did you think?"
Severus smirked. "What else? It was magniloquent, as usual."
