Scooby-Doo and the Mystery, Inc. gang stumbled across Monster High while traveling to Freddie's aunt's barbeque. The monster-part caught their eye and they decided to investigate, although Shaggy and Scooby really wanted to get to the barbeque, of course.
They were a little unnerved at the decorations as the approached. There were skulls and spiders and ghastly things everywhere.

Shaggy whipped around. There was a tall river monster walking nearby. The rest of the gang had already left him behind.
"Zoinks! A monster!" Shaggy exclaimed.
"Hey, man, we're all monsters here." The fish-man replied. "This is Monster High, where monsters go to school. I'm a senior. My name is Gil"
Shaggy swallowed, shaking in terror, but he didn't want to be rude.
"O-oh, I see. Well, man, where can I, like, get something to eat around here?" he said.
"Come on, man, I'll take you to a local restaurant. I'll just ditch today. I'm 18, they can't make me go anymore."
They went to Spookburger, a local burger place, and Shaggy ordered one of everything. Gil ordered some food, and they took their orders to a booth. They ate quickly while talking and Shaggy found himself becoming attracted to the fish-man.
Gil asked Shaggy if he wanted to go back to Gil's house to hang out some more. Shaggy quickly agreed, and they traveled to the house. As soon as they got to the bedroom and sat down on the couch by the T.V., Gil placed his hand on Shaggy's leg.
