Never Gonna Leave This Bed
The Great Hall was dead silent, which was odd because it was entirely full for the evening meal. It was dead still, also odd for that time of day. However, the reason for these oddities was easily explained. Standing next to the Gryffindor bench was Harry Potter, vanquisher of Dark Lords, Saviour of the Wizarding World, and all around Hero. His green eyes were trained on a figure at the far end of that table, the only other person standing in the hall. Harry looked rumpled, his clothing wrinkled. He looked exhausted, dark circles hovering beneath his eyes like purple smudges and cheeks pale against the darkness of his hair. His expression, as he stared the length of the hall, was blank and his eyes, usually so expressive, were flat and emotionless.
The other figure, the reason for Harry's haggard appearance, was smaller then the Gryffindor. He was blonde and unnaturally pale. Draco Malfoy looked, if possible, even worse than Harry did. His eyes were rimmed in red, either from lack of sleep or crying, no one was certain. His usually perfect hair was mussed and his clothing was in a similar state to Harry's. The two stood with no words, simply staring at each other.
The hall waited with baited breath for the coming explosion. These two were the stuff of Hogwarts' Legend. Their hatred was the most concrete and unchanging thing in the castle, except for Harry's animosity for Snape and the greasy git's return of that loathing.
After a moment, Harry let out a barely audible sigh and made to turn away. His shoulders slumped and his whole body radiated pain. Draco inhaled sharply and moved forward. His quick footsteps echoed loudly in the still and silent room.
When he reached Harry, the blonde laid a gentle hand on Harry's shoulder, causing the taller boy to turn. Draco's jaw worked for a moment and then he said, "Take it, take it all. Take all that I have. Everything I am. Anything you want. I'd give it all away just to get you back."
Harry stared at him with wide eyes, but made no move or response. Draco's jaw worked faster, as though he were trying to prevent himself from crying.
"Fine then... Fake it. Fake it, I'll take what I can get. Just…Please, Harry, I can't… I'm sorry. I—"
Harry turned his face away. "Draco. I saw you. I can't—"
Draco shook his head violently. "No! No, you didn't! You didn't see right or it wasn't me. I would never…I can't…I didn't…Harry, I'm in love with you. Fuck it all. I don't care if someone tells my father. I don't care if the entire wizarding world turns out to carry me away to Azkaban for tainting their Golden Boy. Harry, I love you and I would never do that to you!"
Harry slowly turned his eyes back to the blonde in front of him. He blinked and glanced around the hall, where everyone was staring gape-mouthed at them. "Draco, you just…in front of the whole school…"
"Fuckall. Harry! Please, just…"
Harry shook his head and Draco's entire body seemed to deflate, to shrink. "Draco, I love you too. If you tell me, I saw wrong, then fine. I believe you."
Draco's head snapped up and he looked at Harry, who was smiling at him just a little. Draco returned the smile with a breathtaking one of his own and leaned forward to drop a light kiss on Harry's mouth. The light kiss turned into a second, which was not so light, and the rest of the world disappeared.
