Forgive Me
It's been three years after kagome returned; Kohaku has grown into a fine demon slayer. Rin was left at the village to learn how to live like humans. It's not that Sesshomaru wanted to leave Rin there; he wanted her to make the decision when the time was right. He would come back for her when she grows up, yet with Kohaku by her side he worried that Rin would choose Kohaku over him. 'Just a few more years until she will make the decision' Sesshomaru thought as he flew past the village. "Uh, it's him." Sesshomaru said to himself.
"Kohaku, where are you going?" Sesshomaru asked him in such a cold voice that it sent shivers up kohaku's spine.
"Uh, visiting Rin as usual." He replied quietly. He knows that Rin held a special place in Sesshomaru's heart, but he liked Rin too. "Tell me Kohaku, do you love Rin?" Sesshomaru asked louder this time. "Y-yes, I love her very much… why do you ask?" Kohaku stuttered. "It's nothing." Sesshomaru muttered as his hand reached towards his sword.
"Well I know for a fact she loves me more than she loves you, I mean who could love a cold demon like you?!" Kohaku yelled through gritted teeth as he aimed his weapon at Sesshomaru's heart. 'That brat… now dare he!' Sesshomaru's eyes flashed red in rage as Kohaku's weapon aimed at him; it missed his heart but did injure his right arm. There now lays a deep gash that was at least 4 cm deep. "You attacked me first, I now can attack back." Sesshomaru replied in a cold voice. He took his sword and slashed it in the air four times. It didn't even touch Kohaku but suddenly his body started bleeding. Soon enough he lost too much blood and the cuts deepened to a point that it killed him. Sesshomaru didn't have to worry about Sango being upset because Miroku, Sango and their children were killed in an invasion of demons. His arm still hadn't stopped bleeding when he got to Rin's cabin.
"Sesshomaru, are you alright? You're hurt!" Rin ran to the door and helped him sit down, and then she cleaned his wound and asked "who did this to you?" "Kohaku attacked me, so out of self defense I attacked him, then he intended to kill me so I killed him, I'm so sorry Rin, forgive me." Sesshomaru pleaded.
Rin started crying, she slumped down onto the floor. 'He was right about Rin loving Kohaku more.' Sesshomaru thought painfully. "I'm sad that Kohaku died, but at the same time I'm glad you're ok, I forgive you Sesshomaru." Rin murmured between sobs. Sesshomaru pulled her up and held her in a tight hug, he felt sorry about Rin having to make the decision but now that kohaku's gone, she wouldn't have to, unless a village man would start pursuing her. Yet he would hate to take another life. 'Why am I being so selfish? I don't deserve to love Rin; I will only hurt her again. Rin, I love you, I will always love you. I understand what I must do if I were to never hurt her again.' Sesshomaru thought, ring was asleep right now, he wrote something on a piece of cloth. Then he head towards a steep cliff, he was going to jump, then as he was falling he would kill himself.
Later on that day, a villager found his body at the bottom of the cliff with blood smeared all over him. Rin woke up and found the note. She read it and started to cry; she started shaking and slumped against the wall. 'Why does this always happen to me? I loved you, and you only Sesshomaru!' she then took her life jumping off the same cliff with the thought of seeing Sesshomaru again. As she fell, she had the note clutched firmly in her hand. At last, she would be with Sesshomaru. The note said "my dear Rin, I love you; I can't stand the fact that I'm hurting you, I loved you, and I'll never stop loving you." And on the other side of it, Rin wrote "I love you to Sesshomaru, I'll see you soon."
